View Full Version : Discussion Do mixers work with two different RX/TX combos?

You guys are my source for knowledge, and this one is an odd question indeed!

So ... background first: Imagine a gimbled tilt-tilt mount using two servos, not unlike many of the two-servos glued together mounts seen here. Take an FMA Copilot (or accelerometers or whatever) and use it PURELY for a "level reference" signal -- that is, if unmodified, the FMA Copilot will ALWAYS keep the mount pointed straight down at the ground. Okay, so the goal is to have a precise offset to this level reference signal so the camera can point and hold a bias. This offset signal could come from a seperate Tx/Rx combo, for instance some clever ground software controlling a transmitter and watching the video for something interesting.

I wonder, does a stock (or modified) servo mixer -- which typically uses the addition of the two inputs -- work with **two different** transmitter signals? My worry is the frame timing would be different or overlapping and the stock mixers wouldn't be able to cope with that. I don't have two transmitters available to test my curiocity....

Any help from you my guru buddies?

As a side note, I think this could be done with a microprocessor, but that is a serious hill to start climbing and I had the idea about using the stock mixer today, so I wanted to persue that easy-to-buy avenue first. But, I'd be super happy if someone had fun writing uC code for something like this and I'd enjoy collaborating with you!

Thanks,
Dan
