Chris, do you fly the model with the FMS sensors covered by the red stickers?

I think the red thing must be a small fusion reactor to get a 50 mile flight.

Probably a aerodynamic housing for an additional lipo which is jettisoned on empty to lighten the plane for the return flight .... ?

Was this 50 mile flight performed in closed air space? Can you mention what AGL you were operating within. Can you mention the comm strength utilized? Were you in a chase vehicle during the operation?

On a serious note, I use FS8's in some very expensive planes. I'm not posting to defend them, I've just never run into a problem and I'd like to know what problems you might know of. What do you know or what have you heard?
Thanks,

We've purchased a total of eight FS8's and 7 of them had to go back for various reasons. Two of the seven went back twice. Bad range checks, motor "blips", failure to calibrate, failure to engage, failure to participate PERIOD on power up. They just haven't instilled much confidence in us.
On a side note, we also purchased a Skyvolt LiPo and charger to test the 20 minute charge capability. The first battery was never overamped and realy only used on our prototypes and it ended up failing after about 3 months. We were asked to send both the charger and the battery back and we did. We were then notified that the battery had been crashed and was not under warranty. We took great exception to this since it had not and was still in pristine shape (no scratches, not puffed, etc). They ended up sending us a new charger and a new pack.
We flew the pack for the first time last week in a little EDF. Plugged the battery into the charger and its' blinky code told us that the charger was corrupt then there was no battery, then there was a bad cell. So they were packed up and sent off again.
I don't think it's our electrifying personalities........
