I finally got a gyrotor and couldn't fly it well, mainly because of instability of yaw. I took it apart to look for the gyro.. and guess what there is NO gyro. It seems to employ a hall type sensor and magnet which is mounted on the tail rotor. The tail rotor is mounted on a hinge swing so that it changes the distance between the magnet and the hall sensor by rocking the tail up or down.

I assume that when the tail is spinning it acts like a gyro, any attempt to displace the tail by yawing left or right also displaces the hall sensor.

So its not really a gyro in the gyrotor.... I guess it should be called a hallrotor... :P

It should still be easier to modify than the picco Z because of the increased power plant.

It uses an n20 motor, with 2 stage gearing.

An N20 hey! Much power it has! I was too scared to open my one as it flys so well. The instructions say it has 2 li-po's with 130mah capacity. Does that mean 2 130 mah batteries or 2 batteries that add up to 130mah when run in parallel?
Could you please take a photo of the inside?

Sure... My first mod will be to replace the N20 high voltage with a ULV N20 that runs on 1 cell. There is quiet a bit of heavy junk that can be cut off on the frame. The boom can be replaced with a CF tube.

It does use 2 cell of 130, so its a 7.4V 130 mah 2-cell. If I can get my hands on a small gyro, I'd replace that contraption on the rear of the tail.

It doesn't look like the Gyrotor is widely available (in the US, anyway). Where did you guys buy yours?

I bought mine off ebay, just do a search for gyrotor. Also hobbytron.com carries it and a few other websites.

I think it will be much easier to mod since everything is so much larger. I will probably turn it into a pixelito with 4 channels. Will use a 6 mm motor actuator for the fly bar. Will post details as I have them.

SInce I will be running it off of 1 cell using the ULV motor, I will already shed quiet a bit of weight.
