Hello Heli forum readers,

I've got some newbie questions. Could someone please indulge me.
I've been thinking about getting my dad a heli for his birthday as he has always wanted one. Since he is retired, I thought now would be a good time.
He is quite a handy guy with R/C planes when he was flying but he hasnt flown in over 15 years due to his stressful job. I dont know if his reflexes are up to the task.
What I need to know is a good kit for him to start on. All his old radios no longer work. They were for planes, and I would probably have to start from scratch. I've seen a lot of negative talk here about the ECO 8 even though I could get a complete start out kit for ~$600 U.S. Are there any other kits that would be suitable? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hello Chewie,
I admire your intentions. Having read your post, I'd be more inclinded to suggest a Lite Machines model. There are lots of happy Corona (electric version) owners around. This translates to lots of help, right here at Ezone. Check the other Helicopter board which is listed under "Electric Flight". The Lite Machines models are fixed pitch, not collective,(adjustable) ptich. Easier to setup, they fly well, and are designed to withstand a level of crash that would damage most other models. They can be flown with a simple (plane type) 4 channel radio or a computer radio. You can also find lots of information on the lite machines web site. You can also order directly from Lite Machines by phone,(preferred).
