I looking for a Kyosho RC surfer dude, I'd perefer one that has been modified with a beefier motor, steering, internal cooling, waterproofing, etc. Actually I'd buy the complete package extra batteries charger etc.
If you'll have one sitting around gathering dust for the upcoming winter months, contact me give me the specs and I'll make you a good offer.
Thanks,
B.Kahuna

i have a brand new totally modified from RCsurfer.com, i got it back and put in the pool to test to make sure everything works, and it does. all RTR just need your own batteries. it has the three fin convertion 19 turn motor with better cooling tubes better watered cooled ESC, deans antenna and plugs. airtronic servo, better water seals.
its the same one on the web site pro modified with updated three fin system. allways out of stock.. make me a great offer and its yours.
p.s. its the lisa not the dude.
and im not going to let this one go below what i payed for it because its just to kool. :D

Sounds nice but it also sounds out of my price range. If you're trying to get all your money out of the sale.
What do you want for it, I've seen several offered here and on ebay for around $250.00. That's what the market is.
Also what size batteries would I need ?
those other Surfers came with a couple of batteries. I need to add those to my total cost when I make a buying decision.
Thanks for replying, I guess I looking for someone that's a bit tired fo theirs or just doesn't use it as much as they thought they might.
I'm still interested, give me a number.
thanks,
B.Kahuna

the mods from rcsurfer was $200 and the surfering lisa was $200, i have 7.2 4200 to run it. and those batteries are $60. this is a new never hit salt water only tested in my pool to make sure it works after getting it back from rcsurfer who did the custom work. some you see on e-bay are not the original kyosho brand but a china nock-off and do not have the mods or are they new like this one.
like i said if i could get what i payed for it i could sell it if not it still looks kool on my shelf. :D
p.s. remember the surfer is now a collectors item and to find the original surfer from kyosho new is very rare.

thanks TKO, as I said I was hoping to find one gathering dust. Winter's coming and I thought someone might like to turn a kool model in to some kool cash. If yours is brand new, go surf the thing! Contact me if you get boredwith it, or just want a different project.
I still looking for something for around $250 - 300. I've seen three in that general range since I started looking a few weeks ago. I think they become available occasionally
Thanks

Hi B.Kahuna,
I know this might not what you are really looking for but I have a Lisa that I bought about a 2 years ago with plans to do all the upgrades and hop-ups to make a Hawaii grade R/C Surfer. What with being too busy with work, house building, etc, I have not touched her.
She is basically new in box, as I received her, and has never run in water, as they come from the factory. I will have to dig her out of storage and take some photos for you if you are interested.
I wasn't planning on selling and would like to do all the hop-ups one day but I saw your post and hate seeing toys gathering dust when a new life beckons...
PM me if you want to see pics, etc.
Aloha

Thanks Jono, sure I'd be interested in trying to do the conversion myself. Please send me the pictures, be sure to photo the interior. The "off the shelf" set up.
Do you know what kind of motor it needs, cooling, steering etc?
I've seen some old cobalt motors at my LHS very inexpensively. I've heard weight isn't a major factor. If fact everyone appears to run the old heavy battery packs vs brushless and Lipo's. In the video "radio Waves" the builder said the extra weight helps control bouncing. Do you know anything about the optimun set up (and how much it will cost)
Thanks again,
B.Kahuna

B.Kahuna - I'll dig her out tonight and try and post some pics by Monday evening.
tkoguy is right - rcsurfer.com has all the mods and specs for a top of the line surfer.
These are all the other working links I could find - seems after Kyosho stopped making these alot of businesses have shut down and web sites closed...

Lipos can't take the drain in a high performance rc surfer. Stick with nimh batteries, they will still get hot. I use 4300 nimh 8.4 volts, a watercooled 80 amp castle creations brushless control and a feigao watercooled 3511kv brushless motor. Make separate inlets and outlets for watercooling the motor and speed control. Check out offshoreelectrics.com for go fast stuff. See my surfer on youtube.com search Wrightsville Beach rc surfer.

Hi B.Kahuna,
Sorry for the delay - so ... busy right now at work, etc.
Here are some pics of my Lisa. I basically put in some batteries 2 years ago when I got her, to dry test everything. She then went straight back into the box.
I think everything is there as she comes from the factory. If anyone notices anything missing please speak up.

The main pack is in the last photo, next to the transmitter and charger. A basic 1400mah Nicad pack that came as stock. I changed the connectors to charge it one time when I first got her and was checking everything out. I can add some extra Sermos (power pole) connectors if you need them.
I would like to ask for $175 plus shipping. Thats about what I paid not including the shipping. They were around $200 new, when they were in production and I have seen them go for over $300 on ebay for like new in box similar to mine as well as fully modified ones. Priority Mail will be around $33 insured and I will make a cardboard box to ship her in.
If you aren't interested no problem. I will probably keep her and do all the mods one day and she will surf on Maui. Or I'll put her on ebay and see what the market will pay.
Let me know.
Aloha

Sorry to duplicate post but this is very important...
I have confrimation from a guy that bought one, that there is an auction on ebay that is not for the original Kyosho Lisa but the cheap, crap, chinese knock-off, even though the ebay seller uses photos of the original surfer in his auction. The seller has committed mail fraud and ebay fraud and I hope he gets reported to ebay. And sued by the Post Office for the federal offense of Mail Fraud...
Here is the link to his current auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-SURFER-LISA-RADIO-CONTROLLED-SURFER-RC-SURFER-RTR_W0QQitemZ170055069011QQihZ007QQcategoryZ2564QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Please check 1st with the seller by asking questions or do not buy.
Sorry I was miss-lead by the photos in the auction. :censored: bad ebay sellers...
