Those airplanes were piloted by very knowledgeable and skilled pilots. (At least in the first vid ;) ) I heard, second hand, that the F-15 which flamed out and belly landed was flown by Mr. Phillip Avonds himself!! :eek:
Apparently, this event occured in south africa (anyone please feel free to correct me, like my turbines, I exhaust much hot air! :D ) in low density, high temperature conditions causing multiple flame outs and low thrust situations.
It sure does make you sick to your stomach though... :rolleyes:

That second video just goes to show you that you not only need a knowledgeable pilot when flying a turbine, but a good builder too! That pass looked relatively slow and for it to exhibit that much flutter there must've been something wrong with the design or construction of that plane.

That was a spectacular crash! With the sound and flames and all. Looks like they needed quite a bit fore fire surpression equipment though. :)
