Hi everyone.

I have the OS .21 outboard marine engine, on an aeromarine hull, the predator 2. The engine fired quickly with the right electric starter, however, I am having trouble keeping it going once it hits the water. Can anyone help me?

It sounds like you need to richen the needle a bit - turn it out in 1/8 increments till the motor keeps running

If the motor is new turn it an extra 1/8 turn from where it runs well - it should run in a prestty dissapponing fashion for about 6 tanks - ie till its run in

Then wind it back in till it comes "on song" the exhaust tone will not sound as fat or wet as when running it in. It will be a dry resonant sound. with the correct setting it will run hard

i've been having this problem with my Miss Budweiser boat, it goes about 30 feet and the engine just stops, It's making me really really mad. I make the needle richer by tiny increments, but when it goes past a certain point, it won't start at all. Am i doing something wrong, or is my engine defective?

Clashrocker,chriszuma,
You guys don't say how you are launching your boats. Keep in mind most nitro boats need to be launched with a lot of forward motion to the launch, ie throw, and a fair amount of throttle on. If you try to just set it in the water with the engine at or near idle the results will be what you are describing even if the needle is correct.
Good luck

John

I hope you guys are not trying to run your marine engines on 10% percent nitro cheap aeroplane fuel , you need more like 30% if you have a real tight race marine engine, the engine may start on 10% but it will not run for long. Oh and dont forget to use loctite on your engine bolt,s especially outboards or kiss them good bye!
