The boat is alot of fun and a pretty good boat for the price. Just to be fair I will say that the Miss Vegas is also a good boat. There are good and bad with both boats and here is the main points you may need.

Elam: not as fast as the vegas but easier to control for the first time hydro driver
Elam: near replica of the real Miss Elam.
Elam: Same boat as the Miss Bud, Miss Llumar parts are easy to get if needed.
Elam: Starting is a breeze with the included TigerDrive much better than the pull start.

Vegas: Hull has weakness' and requires frequent repairs or initial reinforcing
Vegas: will blow over (flip) out of the box you really need to be careful until you learn how this boat handles weight in the nose helps
Vegas: more hop ups available at this time.
Vegas: generic unlimited hydro hull

Both boats: radio boxes are not the best but the vegas has a slightly better one untill you need to be towed in after stalling or running out of fuel, wrap reciever in a balloon.
Both have plastic props that NEED to be replaced with metal 535 2 blade props.

Hope this helps. I own the Miss Elam and I love it. I race with a buddy that has a Vegas and we both have alot of fun with our boats. I hope you can too.
