Hello all, just looking for some opinions from the group here as to what you would do. I have been flying for 2 years now & a year ago got into the glider thing.....love it!!!! I first got an Alula which was quickly followed by a Gambler-AG. I spent 90% of the time flying the Gambler and completely loved flying it. I made a scratch 5' electric glider that flies pretty well but know I would get much more performance out of a bought plane.

Immediately following a recent launch impact with my black lab (due to a sit-stay command gone bad), the Gambler is no more.

On to my question...I'm going to get another DLG (95% sure it will be the Arrow Sport) and also will get an electric thermal ship (75% sure it will be the Renny or maybe an Art Hobby). I'd like to get one within the next month and then as funds free up get the other in the spring. With the cooler weather starting to show up (I'm in SC) and with winter approaching, which one would you get first?

As far as my thermaling goes, I caught a few with the Gambler but pretty much never put much effort into really learning how to thermal correctly/efficiently, something I now want to do. What do you think?

Sure do appreciate it,
Brian

If things tend to get more windy as winter approaches, I would go for the Renny ( I want one too). You will have a better chance of catching lift with the Renny just because it will get higher and you will have more time and a wider range to hunt. And of course the motor just lets you pop back up to try again.

However, if you are REALLY feeling the pain of the lost DLG and you feel that the wether for it will be around for a while, then that would be the way I would go.

I think the Arrow is a good choice for an under $300 plane. If you want to go to $400, take a look at the Polecat XP4.
