Anybody any experience of building the Hoby CNC stepper board?

I can solder reasonably well, how easy was it to follow placements etc?

Try using the "Search this forum" option and enter "CNC" as the search string - I got 89 hits !

It is easy to build. Don't run it at the maximum voltage - Keep it 40 volts or below to be safe.

If you can afford it get something better - you will grow out of it and want a better driver.

I can barely solder but I can follow directions. Mine (4 axis chopper with heat control) works great - had some initial "issues" due to my own stupidity and heat control is inop again because I pushed it too hard, but the driver side has been flawless since the initial setup. I'm running power directly to the wire, bypassing heat control now, and I cut about 10 wings last week, all different, and didn't have to make a single template. I love it. I have the replacement parts for the heat control but haven't taken the time to reinstall them since everything else works so well. Support from Dave Rigotti has been excellent as well.

edit: 4AUPCWHC with 84 in-oz motors, GMFCpro software, fencepost cutting sleds.

Thanks, Looks like I shouldn't have too much trouble with it if I decide to go ahead.

Nauga: what do you mean by "fence post cutting sleds"

pbunnstf: what would you suggest as "better". I don't intend to cut "millions" of wings. Some for myself and some for fellow club members

Just like this one: http://www.8linx.com/cnc/cnc.htm
but with 'mods' so I didn't have to do any machining.

I plan to buy Geckos soon - I wish I had done that the first time.
