Hi there, i'm a newbe to rc flying, I have been given a lot of equipment, to JR radios, 2 600 jr recievers, plus four electric planes.
My problem is that i can't get a signal from trans to reciever.
I have tryed all combos of recievers and transmitters, but no servo movment at all
I am hoping that it's the crystals that are the problem, but i have no way of testing them, that i know of
Also i don't have a local hobby shop to go to.

HELP.

Hi bdd,

Welcome to RCG!

Let's make sure of certain details first:
- As I understand you have only JR equipment, that rules out neg or pos shift issues; fyi JR uses something called positive shift which the receiver needs to understand.
- Are you using the same channel for transmitter and receiver? crystals tell you the channel (is written on them). You need both to be in the same channel.
- Is your receiver powered? There are two ways of doing this. You have an ESC (speed controller) connected to a battery pack and also connected to the receiver; or you have a receiver pack, which connects directly to the receiver.

Get back with all the answers and if you still have problems, we'll see where to go from there.

Pedro.

Hello Pedro, thank you for answering, i was afraid I was'nt going to get help.
Yes, I have crystals in both tran, and reciever #29, I have changed them back and forth, one is gray and one is black, I don't know if that makes a diffrence or not.
Yes the reciever is powered.

I would have help you before, but I'm not login too much lately.

I don't know about gray and black, I don't have (haven't seen) any JR gear. One thing is for sure: there's transmitter crystals and receiver crystals and even if they are both dual conversion (Tx is always dual), the receiver crystal won't work in the Tx and viceversa.
My crystals are different in size, so I haven't tried to fit them in reverse. I have no idea if this will damage the crystals.
The only test I know (read) for crystals is to shake them very close to your ear and if they sound like a burnt light bulb, then they are broken. Besides that the only way I know is to put them in working gear and rule them out.

Thanks again Pedro, I will try the sackeing thing.
Ok, here is my plan of attack, first I test the crystals the best I can, next I go to the recievers.which I have to of, jr r600s.
Then i go to the transmitters, i hope it's not the transmitter,if it is, I may give up.

Pedro, it sounds like the reciever crystal is broken, it sounds like a light bulb with a broken fillament, when you shake it.
So I will order a new crystal, and to mini servos fro my new plane, I bought a Ventura.

bdd,

That's right the sound of a broken filament it is. I found the info here: http://members.aol.com/davthacker/radicalrcxtalexchange.htm
They may even have your crystal for less. I have use their service which I find a little slow but damn cheap. The alternative is hobbywholesale they have good prices in servos (at least the Hs-55 a few months ago).

Good luck,
Pedro.
