I E-mailed a few times with NO response, finally bought some from Bob at Soaring USA, they're not listed on the website, you have to call and ask. Chris

Adout a month ago I used the e-mail link on "servoframes.com" and advised what I wanted, and asked how I was to conduct the transaction (no on-line ordering on the web site). Craig e-mailed me back and asked for my address. I was still confused about payment, and dropped the issue thinking I might see him and be able to buy some at the Fall Festival (neither occurred). A few days after the Fall Fest, the frames came in the mail, even though I hadn't paid for them. I immediately sent a check for the amount (the costs are on the web site), and all is well.

Just a few times over my past 35 years of modeling have I run across vendors that deal in the hobby industry, who will send their products trusting that you will do the honorable thing and make payment. Once I find one of those guys, they have ALL my future business. If they're selling what I need, I get it from them, period. I realize there is too much evil in the world for big corporations (say like horizon hobby) to deal like that. However, the vendors who I have found that deal like Craig @ servoframes, have all been associated with R/C soaring...Hmmmmm

David,

I typically send the funds via paypal with a list of frames I want, then he ships and I have them inside a week. If he's out of something then he'll credit it back or hold the funds until the BO is filled.

My wife runs a small business and typically bills in the $40- 60 range and much of it is after supplying the product/service. Bad debts total $80 for the last two years.

Joe public are not as bad as they are painted. I owe a model bits supplier $5 and will pay him when I next place a larger order (his terms, not mine). By then he will have forgotten. I won't though. Go to him first every time for anything he may stock.

I just ordered two dozen servoframes for my own use from the supplier in Germany (http://www.servorahmen.de/servorahmen_de.html). I placed the order last Monday and received them in the mail today (Monday week). Including shipping, my cost per frame was substantially less (almost 1/2) the prices being quoted over here. Great service!!

Interesting that they sent them to you. I inquired about buying them and they sent me to Skip Miller. Noting like a supplier selling in an area covered by one of their distributors. Nothing like competing with your supplier I always say.

Personally I believe in supporting the local guys first. Don't get me wrong, I have bought overseas before and probably will again but if I can get it from a local (USA) provider or reseller I will do that first. Now, how many Euro models do I have in my closet?

Walt,
I agree with supporting local suppliers first-- and I almost always do. I had two problems this time. One, finding a supplier online who's website works and who's system is easy to use. I couldn't connect with servoframes and couldn't find servoframes on Skip Miller's site. I found the German site and they did suggest that I buy them here unless the quantity I needed would justify the shipping. This got us to the second problem -- I build enough stuff to justify buying a bunch of these. I paid about half of what I would have paid here for two dozen frames. (74 Euro for 24 frames delivered)

Ultimately there has got to be a limit as to how hard I'm willing to work to get someone local to sell me something and how much of a premium I will pay to allow him to sell it to me. (In fact, the last time I purchased servo frames I did purchase them domestically)
