Hi All,
Found some cans of the old formula 3M super 77 in the 7oz. cans at my local hardware store. They still have 5-6 cans left, so I thought I would pass on the info to any other Los Angeles modelers.
Here is the place:
Anawalt Lumber
It's on the corner of Pico and Sepulveda
Right over by the intersections of the 10 and 405 freeways.
The cans are mixed in with the new formula and the larger cans are all newer formula also, so be sure to check that it has cyclohexane and not acetone.
Cheers,
Jason
In case you aren't aware of the change, here is some info from a different thread discussing the switch.
3M 77 Spray Adhesive formula change notice
3M recently changed the formula of their Super 77 Stray Adhesive. The new
formula contains acetone. Acetone will dissolve the Styrofoam parts if the
spray head is too close to the wing. The change affects certain building
sequences for the Zagi-400X, Zagi-400 Zagi-LE, and Zagi-THL. The Zagi-3C is
unaffected by the acetone in the new formula so no change is required for
any of the assembly procedures.
New formula or old formula
The old formula can be identified by the familiar all black can. The new
formula can is dark orange faded to brown and finally black. The more
accurate way to distinguish new from old is to read the small print on the
back of the can. After the word "Contains" the first ingredient in the old
formula is cyclohexane (GOOD). After the word "Contains" the first
ingredient in the new formula is acetone (BAD).
