Hello all,

I have finished my indoor seafire with GWS retracts. Flying with retracts indoors is really awesome! The aircraft has a 38" wingspan with around 300 sq inches of wing area. It weighs 9 ounces and is powered by a dual ips drive. Controls are rudder, elevator, throttle, retracts. It seems to fly OK, but the tail drops during turns. It flies like it is tail heavy so I moved my CG way forward and it helped a little, but not much. It has plenty of dihedral. I think the problem lies in the wing incedence, but that would be a pain in the rear to change. I was thinking of adding some down thrust. Do any of the experts/gurus think this would help? I am trying to set the airplane up for carrier landings so it needs to be able to slow down pretty well. I was also thinking of linking some flaps to the retracts. Is this more trouble than it is worth?

Thanks for you help. I am looking forward to your replies.

Thanks again,
Mike

Tail drop in turns is normally a sign that the CG is too far FORWARD. Where did you have CG when you started (%) and where is it now?

The CG was at about 30%....now it is about 10%

Suggest you re-balance model at 25% and then slowly work the CG back from there until it starts to get twitchy on the elevator.

I can see from the first shot you've posted that you don't have enough washout in the wing. If you add washout, you will be able to move the cg back safely, and I suspect much of your problems will go away.
