I just ordered by Ford Flivver small glo 40 size ARF which is a special running now at Dymond Modelsports. While I expect to use a RCV 58CD on another plane now (bad intention?), I welcome any suggestions for selecting an electric power for this size Flivver.

Wing 54"
Weight 78.5 oz
Wing area 648 sqin
.40 Twostroke
.52-.56 Fourstroke
2 Micro size D 200 BB 3 Std size for ailerons

Here are Dymond's recommendations for 3 flights 8 minutes each or one long flight approx 25 min:
Motor Gunther 30/3
Speed controller 60 A
5 mm clamp on propeller adapter with 40 mm aluminum spinner
Aluminum motor mount with cooling fins
Propeller 11 x 5.5
Battery 3S2P 7000 mah

I do not want to use a receiver battery, so I will need to get an ultimate BEC which can be wired in parallel with the speed controller and provides the power for the receiver.

Also, I am interested in all tips, including from those who have built and flow the Ford Flivver large glo 60 size ARF, which is no longer available from Dymond.

Bryadelm,

I would love to help you with an excellent motor system for your Ford Flivver. In order to acheive approximately 15 min run times you would need the following:

Motor: A50-12S
ESC: X-70-O-Pro
Mount: A50-Mount
Prop: APCE 13X10
Battery: 5S3P Lipo 6000mah

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Hi Kyna,

I found A50-S w/Hacker X-70 Opto Pro ESC $249.99 on your web site. Is this pre-wired with connectors (type?) for LiPo batterres? If not, do you offer this set-up at an additional charge?

What is the price for a Mount: A50-Mount, which I did not find at your web site?

Also, does the A50 require a prop nut or is it included with the motor set combo?

I do not want to use a receiver battery. Do I will need to get a BEC which can be wired in parallel with the speed controller and provides the power for the receiver?

Who sells 5S3P LiPo batteries 6000Amp?

Hello Bryan,

The A50 does not come with connectors, we highly reccommend that you direct solder the wires. The esc is set up for LiPo batteries and with use of the X-Pro Link is USB programmable.

The A50 Mount is $19.99, you can find pictures and information at www.areo-model.com. The motor does come with two prop adapters.

The X-70 Opto does not have a BEC, so you would need to either use a reciever pack or add your own BEC and wire it through the esc.

We sell Thunder Power batteries and can get the 5S3P 6000mah Pro Lite packs. Thunder Power has recently released their new Xtreme packs and the equivalent would be a 5S2P 6800mah pack. These new Xtreme packs are lighter and have a 50C discharge rate.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Hi Kyna,

I am looking to purchase a plug-n-play type of electric power package. What is your total cost for:
A50-S w/Hacker X-70 Opto Pro ESC $249.99
Connectors soldered to ESC
BEC wired to ESC
A50 Mount is $19.99
Thunder Power Xtreme packs equivalent to 5S2P 6800mah pack
Connectors soldered to LiPo

Thus, I would only need to make the connections to fly after mounting the motor to the plane.

Lastly, would a A40-10S or other A40 series.which I found listed in MotoCalc, still be available?

I never received a reply back from you on using your A40 series, and thus I purchased a competitors e-power package.

You may closed this tread as completed.

Bryan,

I must have missed this post, and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.

I am sorry to hear that you went with another power system. However, the A40 series motor have not yet gone into production. We don't anticipate them until Spring 2007.
