is there ANY RC sim out there that can import Solid models such as .iges, .step 3D DXF solidworks. etc. ??

I ask because it is far easier for me to import my Design data direct from my CAD system into the SIM then it is to use the very weird modelling techniques required to make models curently.

I want to experiement with crazy multi poid/rotor CP setups. strange out of the box aircraft designs, airframes etc...

the most awesoem SIm would be able to import a CAD model from a standard format and then have the facillities in Software to apply motors, rotation points, axis and DOF limits, mixing, etc... point and click interfaces also.

ClearView models are in ac3d format from http://ac3d.org The ac3d is a very nice low priced 3d modeling program that can import from many other formats, incliding dxf.

Hey no problem - I knew I had a model of it but could not for the life of me remember which site I got it from. I just go onto them and download everything haha :) On Doc. Insane's site I actually think there is a "trainer" version as well.

For my computer course in the evening and I am trying to reasearch getting a open source free CAD to work inside a open source robotictic simulator for educational reasons

As my results come in I will post them at the robotics forum

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=577677

and later in simulator forum

others will be much more advanced so its worth continuing the search as I I cant for my project take ready made solution a and I think I saw a few mostly linux based such as player stage

The price $70 for the http://ac3d.org seemed ok and there ia a 14 day try out option
