Help!
I have a realflight XTR simulator that my son uses with his JR transmitter and Adaptor lead and it all works well . I wish to lend my simulator to a friend who has a GWS transmitter.

My question is, due to difficulty with purchasing the suitable lead, can I make an adaptor lead to go from a GWS T-4A II transmitter to the JR lead? I have plugs and sockets but cannot find information on the wiring.

Thanks in advance

Ralph, try looking at the manufactures website. It contains the wiring details for most of the common connectors used in modern TX's

The JR plug is shown below

Simply wire the 3.5mm mono socket so then the signal wire (tip) is connected to the corresponding pin on the socket that matches the GWS TX

Thanks Malc C
Realflight don't list a GWS transmitter wiring option. I have sent a note in the contact part of the website but have not had a reply yet. GWS has no info on their website. I have not tried contacting them yet but in the past I have had limited success with any questions that do not involve buying something.(actually no success)

JR uses a 3.5mm mono plug as you showed, however, GWS has a 3.5mm stereo socket. I made an adaptor to go from the Tx to the JR plug on the end of the simulator lead.

On the GWS end of the adaptor, I connected the ground to the ground connection from the JR then tried connecting the "signal" wire to one then the other of the stereo plug connectors and had no success. The simulator would come up with an error message saying "please turn your transmitter on",or words to that effect.

I traced the two signal parts of the GWS transmitter socket into similar looking parts of the curcuit board (is it a stereo output?) and that's about where my electronic knowledge runs out!

Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

Ralph, I see the confusion Realflight XTR I gather you have Realflight G3 and not Reflex XTR ! - I just saw XTR in your first post and thats why I directed you there.

There may well be another reason why you get that error message. The GWS may not be transmitting a standard PPM signal from the trainer socket, so although you got the wiring right, the interface is receiving a signal that it is not able to process and thus throws up the "please turn on the TX" message.

Edit:

Just done a search of this forum (always worth while doing as often the problem has been encountered before) and found sevral posts along the same line. In a nutshell it looks like the GWS is simply not compatable with the leading makes of simulator

But as always you get confilcting advice :(

Sorry for the confusion, my mistake, it is REFLEX XTR, my brain was not in gear when I typed realflight.
The second link you posted looks quite promising. Coincidentally it's from a guy here in NZ. I will try what he is reccomending.
Thanks again
