Now that fall is apon us and soon (for us Canadians at least) our flying fields and lakes will be covered with snow, I am wondering how many folks stick a set of skis under their planes and do a little winter flying?
We have had a winter "ski fly" at least once each winter for the past few years and have a lot of fun (little cool on the fingers, but fun)
does anyone have any stories or tips on ski flying?

I love flying in the winter. The parks are deserted, there is less wind and you can still fly when it snows. I try to fly at least once a week throughout the winter. The downsides are the short daylight hours and of course the cold. As long as I dress warmly and use glove warmers I can usually fly for half an hour before I get too cold.

Here's my tip: Head down to the dollar store and pickup those little mitt warmers. They react with the air and heat up. After I use them I store them in zip lock bags and save them for the next outing. I can usually use them at least 2 or 3 times.
