I scratch built this foamy model, a canard set up. It weighs in at 12.5 oz, and I was wondering, with a 4900 Kv Hacker (the Eflight licensed one) The 60 mm duct that comes out of the Alpha Mig 15, on a 2 cell Thunderpower, 3rd gen, be enough poop to get this thing flying?

Motocalc says 117.3 watts on 2s, 284 watts on 3S.

It does sound plausable.

The motor works fine in a 55mm fan on 3s, in the alfa it should also work on a 3s battery. I did have problems with the magnets and high temp runs this summer, the magnets split on mine. BTW motocalc has never been good with fans in my use of it, the numbers can be deceptive.

That stinks. I'll have to remember that with my 4900s, as I don't want to kill them. How hard were they running? Any idea of watts?

This especially concerns me, as I plan to push my 3700kv version to 220W (which it does run at) in an EDF55 twin setup.

At first it was over 200watts in the spring but as summer came on the added heat load killed it, could be that the magnets were not that good to begin with as it is a Chinese motor commissioned by Hacker. This motor was used by the guy who built the F-117 last year, Froggy I think was his handle, it worked well in that application. I have been getting one of my EDF55's ready to run on a E-flight 400-4200 on 3s, killer power there, 17oz thrust 22a, 11v, 234w on TP 2100PL3s. Sweet setup, the only thing I worry is the CC25 getting too hot. Working on that though.
