View Full Version : Electric LST2

I just read the article in RC Car Action magazine about a brushless
conversion for an LST2 by Team Fine Design. The result exceeded the
capabilities of the original nitro system - oh boy, I've got a crawler
but been wondering what sort of truck would be ideal as a racer. The
benefits of converting a nitro truck to brushless electric was the
rugged structure since it was built to handle the output from a fast
nitro engine. Definitely a good read for those inclined - and with
significant cash! Don't know why but those brushless motors are top
dollar and Li-Po batteries too.

Thats cool but i love nitro, the noise, the smell, dont have to worry
about batteries so much
Altho it would be cool to be able to run it in the street at night time
without hassling the neighbours.

And the fact it will beat it's nitro counterpart. That and the ease of
use. Charge and drive. Doesn't matter how humid/hot/cold it is, etc.

Actually I was impressed by the 18 mins run time from one battery that
the article mentioned. If I could get that much I'd be over the moon.

Don't forget the ability to charge while running. with 20 mins of
runtime, you'd only need two spare sets quick-charging to get almost
continuous runtime. Time to pony up for that gas-generator :)

Don't forget about the time for letting the motor/motors and batteries cool
down, or you wont be playing long at all!

I personally prefer the smell of ARO burning than solder... after
working as a car audio installer through college, the smell of burning
solder makes me cringe/shudder... (read: shoot, how am I gonna tell
the boss I smoked another CD player...) LOL!
:)

With my nitro I have to worry about batteries more:
.. plug warmer
.. reveiver pack
.. starter box pack x 2
More charging hassles running the nitros than the electrics for me.....

I woldnt really call a stock LST2 the counterpart to a highly modified
one.
What $600 to the $1300BL
I would like to see them take the same amount of money that was spent on
the electric conversion and spend it on upgrading the engine, pipe, clutch
and other things to see how they compare.
One modified LST2 vs another.

They did a BLRevo too in the OCT issue.
It does better than the BLLST2. But then I think it cost a bunch more
plus revo being a much smaller vehicle it would be easier for it to go
quicker and faster.
