What update frequency does an AP need from an INU to maintain smooth control? A GPS normally reports data at one hertz. But I guess an INU needs to be much faster than that.
One thing is the sampling rate inside the INU to do filtering of the signals, but often needs the AP updated angles to be able to maintain level flight?
What is the INU update rate in commercial APs?

for a stable airframe I suspect anything over 10Hz is probably overkill. Obviously, it depends on the dynamics of your airframe. There has been some discussion on the xbow micronav site that for helicopters, people have been successful at 100Hz. The person stated that if they used adaptive control they felt they could sample slower. The autopilot code for the micronav is running at 50Hz, but it used to run successfully at lower speeds. 25Hz if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I have not decided on airframe yet, but it won't be a helicopter... I think at this stage planning for at target of 25-50Hz would be good enough, but i'm more than willing to take others advise.
