I have been given two NMB model 4715KL-07W-B39 brushless fan motors rated at 48V DC 0.21A. What would be a good source for a speed controller for these if such exists? If not, any clue as to where to get a schematic to build one? They appear to have 5 poles (5 points at which the fan will stop when manually rotated stopping at each apparrant magnetic catch.

Here's their website, should be a standard 2phase brusless fan motor.(4pole)
Hall sensored controller built in the base of the fan, low current & rpm capability.
You could use a brushed motor controller to vary the duty cycle but these fan types as is are not usefull for our application.
You might disassemble the unit, rewind it, add new transistors or mosfets & replace the molded magnet ring with neodymium mags & then youll have a usefull motor.
Here is the guts to another NMB fan I had laying around.
