Hi;
I’m having fun setting-up FMA FS8 co-pilot. My kit came with all accessories, (including PC software), but without receiver to PC interface. It is a type of serial RS232 interface with DB9 plug. Does anybody have schematic diagram of it? It looks pretty simple on picture in user’s manual. I’d like to built one myself, rather than buying it from FMA. If anybody has one unit without the yellow shrink, I would appreciate if you could get a digital close-up picture showing PCB and IC with marking on it. In fact, any information on this subject would be helpful.
Thanks,

I think that the purchase is more simple, in case You do not allready own such converter (for example they are used with Schulze RS chargers).

Coro, Zagnut,
Provided links answered all questions! Dave, your link was especially helpful, and I appreciate that. (it also makes me stupid not to use “Search” function on this topic).
I’ll build this device and report my results later.
Thank you very much, for your help. It is great to have community where you can count on help when you need it!

As promised, I’m reporting my results here.
I built discussed circuit last night as per ZAGNUT schematic, obviously after making changes per his further down the thread corrections.
I used salvaged parts from old ISA modem (optocoupler 4N35 and voltage reg AS1117, 3.3V SOT case). I used 10u tantalum cap. for Vout, and small ceramic .1u for Vin. Everything was mounted using “dead bug” technique directly inside DB9 case. I used shielded cable; one end of the shield was soldered to DB9 shell. The other end of the cable was terminated with regular 3 pin servo plug. Everything worked from the first attempt. Thanks again Dave (ZAGNUT).
