I was wondering if anyone had any information on what transmitters professional RPV operators use. What frequencies would they be on? I can't imagine that they use our 'toy' RC 72Mhz stuff. I was thinking probably spread spectrum 400 to 900Mhz stuff, but that is just a guess.
Thanks,

I am not of the exact question, but I might be able to help. I can tell you how some autopilots get the stick position signals up to the UAVs
We are using 900 mhz spread spectrum to get the job done. We have also tried 868 and 2.4 ghz for Europe. The 72 mhz is not very reliable out past a mile or so especially once you start throwing high power transmitters on board. It is also a bit of overhead to get the signals out of the RC rx and into the autopilot. When we switched over from 72 mhz a few years ago, a whole lot of problems went away with it. Of course, some latency crept in...
I beleive Cloudcap is doing the same.

I can't speak for the professional RPV crowd, but some of the commercial R/C video operators are using the licensed 72Mhz Part 90 frequencies rather than the license free channels hobbyist use.
