Hi

I am building a small (18") electric boat, nothing fancy, a mono hull, wood cabin cuiser. I want a little speed so I am putting a Graupner 480bb in it. I have very little room in the rear for all the batteries and radio equipement, so in a late night stupor on ebay I bought these mini servos so I can have more room.

Are they going to be able to do the job? Keep in mind that this is a very tame model. I have a small graupner rudder.

Thanks

Peter

I think you will be OK so long as you dont make a large rudder or put a more powerful motor in the boat. I use a micro servo for my Victoria sailboat and it works just fine. The Victoria has a large rudder but being a sailboat it does not go that fast so the servo handles the job fine.

Yes, you can as long as you maintain enough voltage for the micro servo to operate. I don't use the bec at all but did use 4 aaa batteries wires to furnish 6 volts for the rx and should be max voltage for a micro servo. One word of advise is use a ballbearing micro servo cause plastic micro servo gears are plastic and break or strip very easy. To repair plastic is a no brainer but at $5.00 a package of repair gears everyweek adds up , so in the long run your money ahead to go to a better unit. Been there, Done that. Now for the 4 aaa batteries for rx power is a pain like no bodies business. Ok, get a rx battery pack and be ahead of the game. I quit using micro servos and went to full size and use 9 volt batteries with bec disconnected even if room was scarce. Now for me the 9 volt was more reliable and lasted alot longer. This info is on the up and up!
