OK, invest in the ASUS V9520 128MB (powered by nVidia GeForce FX 5200)... on my system, it can run G3 with no lag at all with a constant 60-70 FPS (everything enabled) It runs for about $35.00 (geeks.com should have it) ^.^ Happy Flying!

What resolution are you running your G3 at??? What scenery and waht video settings?
I'm surprized by your high FPS with this rather weak video card! In order to run G3 at 1200x1024 with 40-sh FPS, I had to upgrade my video to nVidia 6600 card...

No problem...^.^ Yeah, on my PC it runs in full screen 1024x768x32 (32 being the color depth [true color]) Here are my full specs...
•AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (2.00Ghz)
•512 MB RAM
•ASUS V9520 128MB...^.^ runs great! Well, I must confess, I do turn off the "particles" because when I fly close, the smoke covers the screen and that is the only time it lags me... (38-45 fps)
PS: I would suggest turning your antialiasing level off I occasionally run it at 2x but any higher and the application will begin to lag...^.^

Ok, first you must find out if your computer has a free AGP slot...if it doesn't, check if it has a free PCI-EXPRESS, (make sure it's express other-wise it won't work) most computer's made sometime in the 21st century have them...My computer only had one free AGP slot, so I was lucky...Can you PM me your exact model? I will do the research and tell you where to put it if it has a free AGP slot.... ^.^

right but dont you take the old graphics card out and put new one in- im not sure the exact model but the old GC is Nvidia Geforce 2 MX 100/200 integrated RAMDAC
this is the DXDIAG system info:
SEMPRON 2500
windows xp
manufacturer VIA
system model k7vt4a+
default bios
processor AMD SEMPRON 2500+ MMX 3DNOW 1.7~GHz
1024 mb ram
DX 9.0
the tower just has on it AMD sempron
hope this helps im looking whether the 6200 TP nvidia GC will work and fit in the slot./////

No, the graphics card that was in your PC already most likely was NOT in the VGA slot...all you have to do is uninstall the previous graphics card's driver..then install the new driver and insert it into the VGA slot, close your PC, plug in the monitor cable into the new graphcis card's port and there you go! I think, I repeat, I think that all VGA ports are the same on all computers...I know that there's 4x and 8x or whatever...my computer manufacturer said that my VGA slot was 4X and I had already bought a n 8X card...but it still worked...remember...This is not the PCI or RAM slot...

I seem to be following you Jon.
Do you have any experience working inside computers? If not pay someone to do it.
Remove the old graphics card and drivers like Travis said.
--------------------------
Only if you have experience only? might wanna print this.
If so a AGP slot is coloured brown sometimes purple
And A PCI slot is coloured White
Your graphics card should be slotted into the AGP slot (Brown), The PCI slots are intended for soundcards, network cards etc.
First a little safety precautions to ensure you dont knack it, Turn off the computer completely and remove all power cables and graphics cables. Before removing the side of the case touch the metal with both hands for abit to get rid of static, static can kill motherboards and other cards.
Then remove your old graphics card by unscrewing the screw connecting it to the case, once done take out the card by holding the edges of the card only. Next take the new card out of the bag edges only and touch the case again.
Now slot the new graphics card into the AGP slot using the edges of the card, look along the length of the slot to ensure that the card is not sitting up at either end. once in push firmly on the edges to make sure its in place, then screw the graphics tether screw in.
Now your ready to rumble, but the case side back on, plug the cables in and switch on, then shove the graphics card cd in and install the drivers using the instructions provided on the disk.
If you need any more help post back.
Cheers

Where abouts in the UK do you live?
Also i would suggest you get an ATi Radeon card something like a 128mb 9200 SE, thats what i have and it works brilliantly (40 - 80fps), but i must admit im running AFPD not G3 tried em all and like AFPD the most its either that or Relfex XTR for me. Theres nothing wrong with G3 its just my tasty likings.
I also suggest you take a look at this chart of all the tested graphics cards, i will checks yours Geforce out later on it as i have run out of posting time right now.

Hello
Where abouts do you live aswell? will help me to find some local shops for components for you, or possibly help you in person if your close enough.
All this is going off the chart i posted earlier.
Right anyway:
This graphics card Ge Force 6200TC (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130023108966&ru=http://search.ebay.co.uk:80/130023108966_W0QQfkrZ1QQfltZ9QQfromZR8QQfviZ1) is suitable for G3 features.
This graphics card Ge Force 6200 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-nVidia-GeForce-6200-8xAGP-256MB-Graphics-Video-Card_W0QQitemZ140023797086QQihZ004QQcategoryZ67864 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is suitable for G3 features.
This graphics card Ge Force FX5200 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/128MB-nVidia-GeForce-FX5200-Graphics-Card-8-x-AGP_W0QQitemZ130021671482QQihZ003QQcategoryZ27387Q QrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) is NOT suitable for G3 features.
Oh further research shows me that the GeForce2 MX, GeForce2 MX 200, GeForce2 MX 400 are also NOT suitable for G3 features.
Your other link did not work for me also. I also still recommend an ATi graphics card as nVidia graphics cards have some reputation for not working with other games.
Please tell me where abouts you live, it will be a great help.
Thanks

Your computer will have both AGP, VGA and PCI slots if its a sempron. Thats why i said about the colours as plugging it in the wrong one may damage it.
That card sounds alright, however it is powered by your PSU and not the motherboard which isnt really a problem really but makes it annoying because you need a spare power key on your PSU by the looks of that cable. Little bit more installing than simply plugging it in.
It will work but it won't be the best card for the features as it is only a 64bit card. I think this card will be better for your system, from the same place, it is a 128bit 128MB card that is powered internally off the motherboard.
