I'm looking at getting one of these two boats: Aquacraft Pro Fisherman Bass boat or the Pro Boat Classic Runabout. I have found a Pro Boat RTR for $200 shipped and the Bass boat RTR is around $130 with shipping from Tower. I like the looks of both boats and cannot get myself to decide which to get. Are both these boats relatively comparable in terms of speed? I don't want something that is really slow. I plan on using a 3300 mah pack for the battery in either boat. Anyway, help me decide which I should get for just general boating around the local lake...

Thanks,
Dion

This is not a question that any of us can answer for you. I dont have experience in either boat but I dont imagine they are going to be speedy on the water. They should move faster than the Atlantic Tug which moves faster than a scale tug would. The Atlantic is a very well built boat and I would imagine the other Aquacraft boats would be similar quality. I have also heard good things about the Aquacraft Bristol Fishing boat, again faster than it should be but all and all a nice model. Hope this helps you some.

When I say I don't want something that is too slow, I mean I don't want anything that some kid with his Wal-Mart toy boat is gonna blow by me with LOL...I know neither of these boats are fast at all, I think the Bass boat goes like 14 or 15mph max and I have no clue about how fast, or how slow the Pro Boat is. Just kinda hoping someone here may have experience with both, or just one maybe, and can recommend one or the other...My kids tell me to just get both, but even though eventually I probably will end up having both, at the moment I need to try and decide which to get right now. Both look like alot of fun, and they are as different as night and day too. Tough to decide which I'll have the most fun with without being able to see them up close and in person...

Thanks...

Get 'em both if you have kids. They will want to play right along with you even if they say that they will just watch. 2 minutes after they say that you will hear "Dad can I dirve it PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESEEEEEE!!!!"

P.S. I have 3 kids now and 2 are old enough for this very thing, the other one will be along soon enough.

I have 8 year old Triplets, 2 boys and a girl. My daughter wants nothing to do with RC anything. The boys are into it, Aero Aces, boats, cars etc...I just bought them each a Stampede RC Monster Truck for their birthday...Your right they will be wanting to drive whatever I get. LOL... I gave them their choice of a boat or the truck and they chose the truck, probably knowing I was getting a boat for myself and they would get to drive it too...LOL

yup sounds about right!! I was given the option too when I was a kid and I took the car first, a few X-mas' later here came the R/C Hydroplane and well things for me have been R/C about anything from then on out. My daughter (8) is more into the R/C than my son (11) and I am not sure about my new son he is only 6mo. old but he loves to watch me build my boats.

I had to erase my posting, i couldn't beat Tim Slocum time of 10 minutes, must be a typing error. I use 3800 on 22" monos with full charge and get a good 2 minutes

I have a Proboat Classic Runabout and it is pretty fast..It will blow the Wal Mart boats out of the water.I use a 3300mah venom battery in mine and I get about 10min. of run time.Im not familiar with the bass boat you mentioned, but I think the Classic looks sooo much more beautiful than a bass boat!!There are past threads on this forum about the Classic with pictures that might give you a better idea of its speed.Hope this helps.

for a first boat, the RTR Southampton, or the RTR Lifeboat by Graupner are pretty good choices, being RTR they are pretty tough. I rolled my Southampton over and it survived.

Thanks for the replies. My kids talked me into the Bass boat for now. I still have my eye on the Pro Boat as well. Kinda worried about some of the issues I read about on the Pro Boat though. Things like water getting behind the wood and pulling away from the hull and the rough sounding dogbone drivetrain...Anyway, thanks again...:)
