I hope anyway. :o

Not too much left of the Genesis.

Nothing to photograph on the Thermal Dancer though, just a slight discoloring of the leading edge.

First major midair I've been in. Sure is scary.

Thanks Chad.

Mine was the Thermal Dancer. I really felt bad for my flying buddy. He thought he was 100 feet from me and I just couldn't get out of his way fast enough. Nothing worse than seeing vital parts (like a wing tip) flying off your plane and then spiral into the ground from 300 feet up.

I guess I still can't get over the fact that my plane didn't get any damage with that bad of a crash. But then again I'm new at this mid air chash thing. :o

I think you missed the 11:00 deadline. You are fired from mid air crash coverage.

Yeah, I know. My flying buddy took pics of his plane and I thought he might send me some but... Maybe later.

First mid-air, huh? If you fly this sport long enough, you're going to have them. I have 20 of them, documented. That does not include my combat kills. As for why the Thermal Dancer has a lot less damage, it depends on how they hit, who had the greater kinetic energy at the time of impact, the angle of impact, the strength of the airframe at the point impact versus the other airframe part, yayd, yada, yada. I had a 2-meter moldie get cut in half by an Oly 650, and he only showe a small scratch. He hit me dead center of the wing with the nose of his plane. He was straight and level, and I flew past his nose, banked up on one wingtip and going directly across. So, at the time of impact, I might as well have been standing still while his plane was moving forward into the wing from the top. It was spectacular, but I don't care to try that again. I just had another one (number 20) last weekend when my slo-stik came across a little Cox foamie warbird. I tore the wing clean off the warbird with my landing gear strut and the warbird fuselage drilled itself into the ground from there. The slo-stik landed with an extra wing.
