I have been using my Garmin Geko to log GPS data for a while and although it's very easy to handle (a bit heavy for small planes) it seems unecessary to carry two GPS units.

I want to avoid downlink systems and I am looking for something simpler than for instance the EagleTree systems datalogger (where anothes GPS is needed anyway).
To retrive data from a datalogger in the plane after a 'mission' would be perfectly fine with me.

In my dreamworld something like Hexpertsystems Zlog, but for a GPS unit, would be available...

Anyone have any ideas or thoughts about this?

Thanks!

Is this product (http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=671) what you're looking for? Records to a SD card.

Wow! That's really cool. I wonder if I could skip the recommended GPS and just use my onboard one.. Have to check the specifications.

Thanks!

This one is a more generic serial data logger. I've got one that I use with my EM-406 GPS module:

Half the price if you already have a GPS.

Cool. I remember you pointed out something like that in the WPS thread. I just couldn't remember exactly what it was. I've been tempted to deploy something like this in 'pattern training'. This would give the pilot a better view of how the flight went.

mx,

Thanks - that's really what I was looking for! Cool!
I owe you a report on the WPS - just bear with me a few more days..
And don't forget to put me in line for a Zlog, please...

Do you know if the Hazardous Substance restrictions (RoHS) applies to Sweden? The ZLogs are not compliant yet (still using PCBs that are non-RoHS).
