After alot of begging the wife finally let me move into our extra room. It is not like we use it for anything other than storage. She gave me a corner and the closet. I think it is just a matter of time before I will take over the entire thing.

EXCOTEC:
congrat's on your new work place. :)
Wifes just don't under stand why we need our spot in the home to build. I moved from my cabnet shop in the back yard to the gerage, witch I installed a wall in the middle of so the wife could have her craft area on one side and me on the other, it work great. I slowly move one thing after another before she figured it out I was building my ENOVY tug on her side. Keep moveing in to where there is less and less room for any thing but R/C thingy's and parts, kits. And then, honey can I put this old sewing machine in the shed. :D :D

Doesn't it feel great when the wife lets you have some space? About 2weeks ago I got my new bench too.

I am looking forward to getting a garage where the entire thing will be mine. After living in Army housing for the last 18 years I think a house to call my own is what retirement means to me. For now I am happy with the space she gave me. Now I just need to find time to actually work on a boat. We have a 4 day weekend coming up and I am determined to finish the San Remo. I have a Neptune cargo ship that should be here in a day or two and want a empty table to put it on.

and here i am, relegated to using a piece of formica and a transport case for a work bench and a double bed to lay plans on!

excellent little boat, just change the rudder for a Robbe one 40mm x 45mm one as the graupner one in the it isnt great, mine fell off its shaft, hence the change.
when I built the sydney star, the graupner one never got used, instead i used a modified robbe unit

Very nice. It helps to not have to search a box for tools and parts. Getting it all laid out is very rewarding.
I need to find a way to keep the rust off that will not stain the wood like oil
After you clean the surface rust off...give it a coat of wax. Car wax, carnuba..anything. It will also allow the wood to slide around easier. After you get done cutting anything CLEAN it up or you'll be back to square one.

To keep the rust off of my machine tools, I use ATF (automatic transmission fluid). It stays where you put it and it works better than WD-40. I see that the room comes with it's own built in dust collector, carpet.

Thanks for the tips on the saw. I will try them out this weekend. The carpet is an old piece of Army carpet so it can collect as much dust as it wants to. I vacum often as I hate dust and dirt. I think that is another product of being in the Army. LoL

It is always nice to have your own spot where you can work on boats as you wish. No bumping into anyone walking around you or having to move their stuff out of your way just to get started. Congrats!

Love the Vows. I just had her say she would support ANY hobby I would get into. I was really into racing R/C cars, had to stop due to the great expence. Then HO scale trains (no room now that we have a baby) so I went back to boating (I was really into it before we got married). Oh and these are not all I like to do so I needed a cover all. :) JK on that really I am, I do have a very supportive wife tho she is wonderful.
