Seems like I am the only one with this problem after doing a search. I have an Optic 6 that I am using with FMS. I just now have tried to use the 4 channel mode and put the rudder on channel 4 and the ailerons on channel 1. Unfortunately, the rudder only works in one direction with FMS both during calibration and while flying.

I know my setup must be wrong somehow, but I looked at all of them (I think) and I have everything set up right. I'm sure it's something simple.

Can anyone shed some light on this and provide a solution?

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Frank,

What interface are you using between your optic 6 and your PC ?

Have you checked that the optic 6 is working ok with a real plane ?

When you look at the mapping interface on FMS which channel moves when you move the rudder stick on your transmitter ?

regards,

Tony

Tony,

Thanks for the reponse.

Q1. What interface are you using between your optic 6 and your PC ?

A1. I'm using a USB cable purchased from Tower Hobbies.

Q2. Have you checked that the optic 6 is working ok with a real plane ?

A2. Optic 6 is working fine. I have used it before and after flying planes.

Q3. When you look at the mapping interface on FMS which channel moves when you move the rudder stick on your transmitter ?

A3. The channel 4 moves, but the blue bar only moves in one direction. It starts at the bottom and goes full up when a right input is commanded.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Frank

that sounds like FMS thinks your rudder stick is the throttle?

on the left hand side of the mapping window what channel do you have the rudder and throttle mapped to ?

Channel 3.

Here's a few pics to decsribe the problem.

I'm thinking the blue bar should be midway on channel 4 like 1 & 2.

Errr... the pictures kinda look normal to me. With the stick at one extreme you should have a full bar and at the other extreme an empty bar. Only with the stick in the middle will the bar be half full (or half empty depending upon your point of view). Channel 4, which you have set as rudder in the pictures seems to be behaving properly. You have set throttle to be on channel 3.

I'd take a guess that you are flying with aileron and elevator on one stick and rudder, throttle on the other. This would put channels 1&2 in the middle as you weren't twiddling that particular stick at the point you grabbed the pictures. It also looks like you put the throttle either fully up or fully down while you moved the rudder stick.

I typed the third pic label wrong. The third pic is with the left stick in the center position. You would be quite right if I had left rudder engaged. Picture corrected.

Sorry for the confusion

You might try to calibrate it using "Game Controllers" that is on your "Control panel".

Shaul_ei has a good point and could easily cause the apparent effect.

I don't know your TX so the other thing to check is that the Optic 6 doesn't have any mixers, rates etc basically set it up as a basic no frills TX. If it is a computer radio then it is a bit like a channel set to high rate with an off centre 'centre'.

The bar should basically follow the incoming signal so you should be able to get an idea what is happening by slowly moving the stick and seeing what happens to the bar.

That did the trick! Got it working just fine now. THANKS!
