I was wondering if anyone out there knows how to make the left stick on the Spektrum DX6 a self centering stick like the right one? Or If Umi would be so kind could you tell me how to make my left side a dual throttle like yours is? Thanks in advance

A throttle stick merely has the springs removed. You will have to open up the Tx case, and install a set of springs like the other directions use.

Iam setting my radio up for dual engines or at least I would like to. SO far for the Tito Neri I have left stick up and down for throttle, left and right for port steering, right stick up and down for bow thruster and left and right for stbd steering. I dont think I can make dual throttles on this radio and have all my other goodies too. I plan on having switchable lights and working firemonitors using the on off position switches. That is all 6 channels.

The Spektrum uses a JR case... in this particular model, it's really tricky to install or remove the coil spring that you need for the self centering. I know they wouldn't sell me an extra ratchet leaf-spring (I wanted two ratchets!), said they prefer for you to send the whole unit in for the conversion.
I talked the service guy into sending me the leaf spring anyway, which is easy to install... but yes that coil spring is a bugger! Small pokey tools and lots of patience are needed to get the spring unhooked and/or reinstalled... but it's possible.

As for the dual stick throttles, it's simple. Remove the single stick assembly. Install a dual stick assembly. Rewire accordingly. Just like nuclear power, the idea is simple. The 'doing' is sort of another story. Wish mine had the dual throttles too...

Horizon Hobby sells the ratchet piece for JR radios, it needs a little modification to fit the spektrum but works fine on mine.
The Dual stick mod for my radio was not well thought out. It needs a center support for the rotation point between the sticks. It has really given me a hard time. Despite the "coolness" factor, it would be simpler to invest in a or Robbe F14 with the dual throttles, or a futaba radio, and do an aftermarket install of the robbe sticks the way "akflyer" did his transmitter.

Another option for "duals"- it's possible to find linear slide pots with center detents. Just lay two of these in the spot where the gimbals would go.
Most readily available slide pots have no detent, but I did go searching once, and found some... might have had to order 10,000 of them though, I ferget... :-(

...Then again, the 'other' option is to just wait. If enough interest is shown, the manufacturors will eventually get around to making the dual throttle thingy an option.
_______HEY, MANUFACTURORS! THAT'S A HINT!_______

Oh, now I remember... Robbe F1501 or F1601 is a linear slide pot with center detent, but may need some fiddling with. And it's about 20 euro.
It's a 10k pot instead of the typical 5k in most radios, but that's no issue. What needs to be looked at is the limits... instead of going 0% to 100% travel, many of the rotary pots may only use a fraction of that travel... so a linear pot may need to have the travel limited somehow... or use additional resistors in a way that allows the full slider travel.
But I think the sliders would make for reasonable throttle controls on many models.

You could also use rubber bands on the stick. Looks tacky, but works.

I prefer hot dogs on a stick, rubber bands are to chewy...
If it's just robbe products made by Futaba, then the dual sticks from "Robbe" may work just as well as the sliders.

Without doubt; Robbe sliders are too $$, just using them for illustration.
But I just ordered a couple center-detent sliders from a surplus joint for $1.50 each; we'll see!

hmmm wonder if those dual sliders would fit into my soon to be here Futaba 7CAP? Does robbe sell those in the US? or do they need to be imported?

Al at Ships n'Things lists them:

But I'm sure they won't just drop in!
