Applying sharp knife on it would be easier.

Go to the search engine and look for "Hot Wire" cutting.

try this site www.charlesriverrc.org/articles_foam_vac.htm

or this one http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=191128

Be careful not to burn yourself, that wire can be dangerously hot and be aware that the fumes can be toxic.

Sand paper, sharp knife and electric Hot Wire could work on it, but
the safer way would be applying sand paper and knife.

the system Ive drawn is the one I use and it cut EPP EPS and Blue Dow without problem. EPP like to be cut a little colder and slower than EPS other wise it weld itself back together as the wire passes though due to is density and slower cooling abilities
even cutting slowly you get whats called cobwebbing but that easy to rub off.
Hope it helps.

keep going it takes a bit of practice but once you develop your technique you'll wonder what was so hard :)
