Hi

Can anyone let me know how these controllers handle low voltage? as there is no setting for HARD/SLOW DOWN I would assume it will slow down not shut down hard on a heli! We have an A30-10XL running in a LeptonEX which reaches the correct head speed at just over 50% throttle on a 4 cell pack. After about 8 minutes flight the motor justs stops. I have checked amp draw, and this motor maintains a head speed of around 2400 on the ground at 16 amps and under full load pulls around 35amps. Speed controller is warm, but not too hot to touch. Does running the motor at only 50% (not very efficient) have an adverse effect on how the controller handles the loads? I am assuming that if the motor was running at closer to 80% (maybe with a 3 cell pack) the amps would come down under load in a heli.

Any help?
Thanks

Paintfly,

I apologize for not responding sooner. I have been out of the office the past few days.

The Master 40-O-Heli does not come with a setting for LiPoly batteries. This unit can be programmed with the Programming box for LiPoly batteries and a reduction in power rather than a hard cut off.

Thats the problem though. The master box does not allow you tou choose between hard or slow down. If you check the sheet that comes with controller there are no X's under the corresponding table for those features. That still leaves me with a heli that keeps falling out the sky. My question to you is this.... How does this controller handle low voltage ( or what is the factory preset) because the end user certainly cant change it. Also, surely at those kind of amp draws the controller cant be switching itself off because of too much current? Please help.

Paintfly,

You are correct and I apologize. The programming box does not allow you to set a "hard cut-off" on Heli esc's. The Master Heli series come preset with a soft cut-off at low voltage. You do however need the programming box to set up the LiPo voltage cut-off.

I'm not sure what is causing the problem you are experiencing. Please send your controller in to be checked along with our repair form and a copy of your reciept. You can access our repair form on our website www.hackerbrushless.com.
