Looks like we have a new forum for topics like bomb drops. Here's a really easy way to drop foam bombs - just carve out room for a servo on or under a wing, then loop rubber bands over the bombs and to the servo arms. On my GWS Tiger Moth, I use a 4-channel GWS receiver - bomb servo plugs into channel 4, channel 1 is used for rudder, channel 2 for elevator as normal. On transmitter, rudder mixes to gear switch. This works, but haven't yet ironed out how to get more than 1/2 travel from the rudder channel for the bomb servo.

Those are some pretty big bombs for that little Pico Tigermoth. It almost looks like they could do some damage by hitting the tail of the plane if you release them at the wrong time.

BTW, where did you get those bombs and what are they (nerf? )

The foam bombs are 18" long - ridiculously big on the TM. I got a lot of laughs when I flew this arrangement. It looked like I had a couple of space shuttle booster rockets attached to a biplane.

The bombs are extremely light, though - doubt that they could hurt anything. I flew it several times, and the bombs released according to plan. I bought them at a Target department store. Here's a link to the manufacturer.

I see Hobby Lobby has a 5" bomb that splits in 2 and can be used with talc powder or flower. Looks pretty cool. $5

I see that this is an old thread, but I too have seen the Hobby Hobby bombs. Thye are very cool looking. Hobby Lobby says that it comes with one bomb and one release mechanism. How does this setup work?? do you need an extra servo to drop it?
Thanks a bunch,
Diddy

Does anyone how you would drop missiles, like the Hobby Lobby one from the wingtips of an airplane? Well not really the wingtips but like the middle of the wing..

Installation of the festive salute on the flying model.
The charge, meant for the ordinary salute, should be fixed on the model. The charge may be taken from the battery, meant for the festive salutes. If the charge, meant for the professional salute, is used, then it is necessary to cut off the capacity, which contains the charge to be kicked out (the charge out of the black gun-powder, which kicks the shell from the gun tube). The charge is tightly wound to the body of the model with the help of the cotton thread. The inflammable end of the charge should be pointed outwardly. All the coils of the fixing thread should be pressed to the inflammable area so as to burn off immediately after ignition. The electric fuse is pressed from the outside with the help of the same threads. Several seconds pass from the moment of ignition till the explosion; the charge is able to fly off the model within this time.
It is possible to hang the charge on the model on the inflammable cord, which should be connected to the electric fuse. An example of installation of several charges, which are fixed on the inflammable cord; the cord itself is fixed with the help of the thread:

The safety distance of bursting the charges is estimated according to the description of the charge to be used.* *
