Well this is another one of those days I wish I had my camera with me when I went out running my boats. The water was a little choppy but I have run my hydro in worse and still made it back to shore. I really wanted to see if the clear duct tape would keep the water out I figured this was a great time to find out. Well.... Hydro fired right up and soon was off after some ducks (I didnt hit any tho) I got about 30 feet away from the shore and the boat hit a wave at the same time as a gust of wind hit it. The boat's nose was looking at the sun then it leveled out in mid air and came back into the water went forward about another boatlengh and the right sponson went into a wave and the tail came up and over the boat.

It floats really good upside down.

I get out Kate Massey and send her and her grappling hook out to bring the Miss Elam back in. This was a fun adventure my hook does not like to keep attached to the wing. I finally hooked the cooling hose and pulled it in by that. Drained the water out of the engine bay and checked the radio box for water. None that I could really see (yippy tape works) I turned the engine over by hand a few times to get the water out of it and tried to fire it again. It fired right up like nothing had ever happened. out on the rough stuff agian and a few laps later I swamp the boat and have to retrieve it again.

Fun day on the water even tho it was short for my go fast boat. I didnt ever think that I would be able to flip this boat over the way I did. I have had it bounce from sponson to sponson and get really loose and out of shape I have even had it get a little light and start to point its nose up a little but to stop moving forward and have the tail come over the top was a great sight. No dammage to the boat and only a little water inside the radio box. Better than the other times when the radio box was full and the boat was on glass like water.

So what kinds of high seas adventures have you guys had?

Nothing to exciting. I ran my Bristol Bay on a windy day once. That was a bad idea. The waves weren't to bad but the non-functioning sails on the Bristol Bay would make it list a bit to much for me. Turning was even more exciting!

The wind flipped my airboat once too. The lake I boat at is really dirty, so the thought of swimming out to retrieve a boat isn't pleasant! I was able get in in upside down though.

I don't know if that was meant to be a joke, but I laughed when i read that. I don't have a R/C boat of my own yet, but I have seen a few guys roll there nitro boats over.

LOL yea it was a joke. I dont know if I would call it a roll over tho this thing came straight up nose down tail in the air and over the top. I was laughing when it happened and then I was hoping that it would not sink.

masey, place the hydro in the airing cupboard to dry out :) let it dry thouroughly before powering her up again, so to give time for all the electronics to dry.

though you wont have seen any water, you will get condesation in some parts from being dunked

Both my tugs got soaked at the weekend as the water was very choppy. Heighton - ex Southampton - drained her shipped water quickly enough but Tarring - a Mountfield's Active didn't fare so well, having no way to drain water. The power switch [on the after deck for some reason] got drowned and, sure enough, packed up the following day. Luckily, I had an identical switch in the parts box and this was mounted inside this time, next to the ESC. Of course, that left a hole on the deck that had to be filled and then the whole darned deck had to be repainted. What the heck, it's time to give the whole boat a repaint!

All I have to do now is cut some holes for water drainage.

Massey,

I took my Vac-U-Boat,Sara Anne out a few weeks ago when the water was VERY choppy.Since I saw the video of a vacutug in the surf,I decided I was going to find out just how seaworthy they are.Well,I got her out and turned into the waves and man that was fun.The entire bow was lifting out of the water and plunging down, lifting up,plunging down, over and over, fun, fun.Since the Sara Anne doesnt have sculpers, she had about 1/4in. of water on deck!!The deck crew where almost up to their waists in water.I did this for about 40min.as the waves seemed to get higher.Every once in a while,a huge roge wave would really worry me a little but the tug took it in stride.Usually,I like big waves when I have my runabout, but now I know that it can be fun with the tug too.

A long time ago,I had an experience with my Blue Devil Destroyer.I had her out when it was too choppy and the electronics got wet.Well, the Blue got stuck in a hard Port turn and was doing a circle about 30ft.from shore. She was sinking....fast.So I took off my shoes, and socks, dropped my wallet, and went in after it.Did I mention that it was early March???Burrrrrrrrr.I brought my hand up under the destroyer, just as she was doing her death dive, stern first. This is when I realized that it was so cold I could'nt breath very well.Needless to say,I got back to the shore, and went straight home!!I thought I was never going to warm up.

So theres two of my stories,I have a couple more if you want to here them
