I am hoping someone out there can help me.
I have an older registered version of G2. It uses the game port controller. The disk is damaged and when I called Technical Support to see if they had any replacements they more or less laughed at me. Is there anyone out that has this version of real flight that could provide me with a copy. I am not attempting in any way to pirate a copy. I am willing to prove I truly have an original. I tried getting the scratches removed but there is one scratch that I cannot get out.
Thanks
Mike

Even if someone was able to sucessfully copy a RF2 disc, I doubt it would be useable for you as I believe the serial number of each disc is unique.

I remember seeing somewhere that Future floor polish can be used to fill larger scratches. It dries so clear that it restores the optical quality of the surface. If you try it, use a sponge brush and wipe from center to edge, and then use your scratch polish again. It can be removed with pure ammonia if it doesn't work.
Disclaimer: I haven't tried this, so can't verify it's effectiveness. Try it at your own risk!

Youy can polish out scratches in teh palstic using car body restore - T-cut and the like.
You have a lot of plastic to go through before you get to the metalisation.
If there is one compnonent that is dameged, I could probably scan a copy of the disk..you shouold burn a CD with what you can get off the disk, and see what's missing.
I don't see how you ended up with in old unistalled copy though.
Howver, by my reckoning, teh software isn;t copy proteced - its KEYED to teh serisl number on the transmitter. That is the number on the disk and the transmitter are a keyed pair: The softawrae takes them, so irt they are a true pair, its happy.
So any software disk will work. As long as you have the transmitter and original disk key.
HOWEVER the number wioll be registered with RalFlight and you won't be able to get the upgrades unless its unistalled on wherever it came from, first.

It isn't an unregistered disc. It is registered to me. I had to reinstall my operating system and when I went to install the disc it was scratched. I called great planes to order a new disc and they don't have any of the original g2 versions left. I have my serial number. I cannot get access to one of the files. It just happens to be the file that must extract after the install. The game port version didn't have a controller serial number.

Guys,
In my experience I have never seen a software program where the disk was unique, they are mass produced stamped CDs, not individually burned CDRs, so any G2 disk should work as long as you use your legitimate "key" when you install.
One other trick would be to use a copy program like Nero Burning Rom to try to copy the disk to an image file on the hard drive, in this mode a problem area of the disk will sometimes be successfully read after many attempts, I have had success salvaging an audio disk that was unplayable, the copy program got all the data in the image so that I could burn a new copy, it took a long time to read the damaged disk but it worked like a charm. Good luck.
