Found this and think it is a very stable edf vtol design. Don't know anything about it though it looks like a MAV/Drone design.

Shows it can be done.

WOW! That is amazing!

Cool! That's how it should be done. It does look UAV'ish to me, too, which suggests a professional design. I'd like to know more about this li'l beastie, anyone got info?

Cheers.

I have not seen any success with vertical lift utilizing DF motors! Very nice!
I want it.

Realistically I reckon it's made entirely from reverse-engineered components 'they' found in a dig site 10km below the ground. The motors superconduct at room temperature and the EDF unit doesn't use solid blades but force fields enabling the peak speeds of 1,000,000 rpm. The power cell is a miniature singularity drive that outputs the same energy as that of a small star.
The plane itself is made from an advanced diamond ceramic that is held together by forcefields and can morph indefinately to always allow 100% laminar flow and insane lift to drag ratios.
Max speed is 95% the speed of light in air or water.
Oh and it's also capable of complete optical stealth.

This does not look electric to me can anyone confirm this???? It looks gas powered as it looks like exhaust pipes comming out of the ducts.

can't see the video but i am pritty sure about what you are talking about. its white with three DFs, two at the back and one at the front.

If im right, its IC powered, and works very well! done by a pro company if i remember (been about for a while now!)

clarkst...... I have acomplished it myself about 6 months ago (no money to progress the project further!) but its actually really really easy!

Lewist, you're right. Quite a lot of views on this thread, seems like some interest here. Can you enlighten us some more?

Cheers.

yeah i have a little thread going here on the first page (the oldest page).

my project used three edfs in a tripod arrangement. I got the hover test rig to work but didn't have the cash to progress the project further.

It was pritty easy to do ..... three edfs, three esc's, three (although i could only afford 2 ) gyros, a few gws vtail mixers and that is it really. was fairly stable, about as stable as a micro heli anyway (e.g. blade cp type heli).

if you check out my build thread there are a load of control setup drawings, some pics and a vid of it hovering.

The rig has now been dismantled and i am in the process of trying to do a scale F35. its a way off at the moment due to funding and time constraints, but i reacon do-able with todays tech.!
