Ever heard of Yahoo or Google !!!!
1st hit on typing "navigation lights" into a search engine gave me this..
On ships, aircraft and manned spacecraft, a red light will be mounted on the left or port side of the craft and a green on the right or starboard side
And before you ask, its left as viewed if you were siting in the craft, and not if you were facing the model

All depends on the craft you are modelling and the requirements of the country's FAA. Most craft will have a constant white anti-collision light at the end of the boom / body, with strobes on each wingtip / side / or horizontal stab (depending if its a plane or heli). The might also have a red strobe under its belly, and one on top somewhere. Or there may be a red rotating beacon underneath. - These strobes may flash once, twice or three beats in a sequence - at the end of the day you are just going to either research the full size craft and copy that, or if its just that you want to stick a few LEDs on your 40 sized trainer.. fit what ever you feel looks right as it won't exist in reality so no one can question you.
When I was modelling an AS350, I contacted the manufactures and asked if they had any details on the positions and colours of the lights for the model I was covering, and its country where it would be flying.. if you are doing a scale model of a civilian aircraft, maybe you could do the same
