Just read the first chapter about the Chase of the New Look and I'm still chuckling as I type this. I'll get back to the rest later. But in the meantime thanks for sharing some interesting stories.

Hi, Chuckling! Chuckling! Whats all this about Chuckling? This free flight malarky is a serious business. I got into conversation with a really intense competitor and expressed the view that it seemed like a matter of life and death to him. No! No! He retorted. It's much more serious than that.
Just to put a stake into the ground, only TWO of the stories on my website or seen elsewhere are actually fiction. By that, I mean, they did not happen the way they are described. I'm talking about "Rara Avis" and "Retrieve". Having said that, both those essays draw heavily upon matters experienced on the field and within my knowledge of how things happen. Even so. they do contain true anecdotal material woven into the fabric of the tale to add a feel to the perceived reality. But then sometimes in this hobby, it's hard to explain our form of reality to sane people.
All the others tales are true, and if any poetic licence is taken, it is there only to emphasise the complete insanity of some of the scrapes a free flight rubber person flying vintage models on full chat can get into.
It's not for nothing that our little group became the self-styled Crazy Rubber Band.

Cool stuff. I love old rules wakes, and fly a Lidgard Hi-Ho (not originally intended as a wake, but completely legal) whenever I visit larger fields.
