Hi, the title pretty much tells the story, but im trying to find out whether or not i can use my futaba 4ex transmitter on FMS. I am chosing FMS at the moment, because of the amount of different planes available to download.
Although as soon as i can afford to buy realflight g3, i will be doing. After seeing the demo it looked excellent.
Also does anybody know what the cable is called that i will need to run with FMS? I can look on ebay for one. Thankyou

Yes. Plenty of data in the FMS forum (http://n.ethz.ch/student/mmoeller/fms/forum/index.php).
There are several ways to connect to your PC - Using its Parallel port, serial port or sound-card.
I'm biased, so I'd recommend the latter and SmartPropoPlus (http://www.geocities.com/shaul_ei/SmartPropoPlus.html).

Thanks, does anyone know of people selling these adapters that i plug into the transmitter and pc.
I have just had a read through, and it looks very complicated, im not an electrician.

I bought one from these guys (http://www.rc-circuits.com/Interface Adapters.htm#null).
I think you need:
- An adapter with Male Connector (6 pin square) & Female Connector (JR 3.5mm mono).
- A standard audio cable with both ends 3.5mm plugs.
The former will cost you $10. The latter should not cost more that $3.
BTW, maybe you can talk to them so they provide you one long cable that has a Male Connector (6 pin square) & a Male Connector (3.5mm mono).

I've personally tried the mic input method for FMS and found it to be very poor. I've built one of the serial solutions based on a PIC chip and it works so much better. Using FMS could save you alot of money if you're a beginner like me !

Sorry to hear that. I wish you had contacted me before spending time & money on the serial solution.
Indeed, there are rare cases where the microphone input is too sensitive AND the transmitter is very loud.
However, I know that hundreds of users did manage to tweak their system to work fine - especially with the latest version (2.3.2).
