We are holding our annual RES contests at Davis Field in Sudbury, MA (near Boston) on July 29th and 30th. It's a relaxed, fun-oriented competition; we'll have beginners as well as experts in the air. See more details at www.CharlesRiverRC.org , or send me a PM with questions.

Do the Gentle Ladies (etc) have to compete against the Bubble Dancers & its East-Euro-Dtube-moldie knock-offs? Or is there some more equitable airplane class divisions? Good Lift!

The contest groupings were 2m and unlimited. Generally the 2meter planes are flown by sportsman but not always. The contest was a blast. Changing lift conditions all day sunday.

Wouldn't be fair if they didn't. I can't find the 2006 placings, but in 2007, in unlimited an Oly 2 took first. An OLD one. In 2 meter, 2nd was a Gnome 2M, and third was an NSP Kestral. If you don't recognize the Gnome, you probably weren't in the hobby in the '80s. Mark Drela competed with his own aircraft in both classes.

Beware. I seem to recall some big contests won by Gentle Ladies, and Prophet 941's although I admit that was a while ago. However, at the time the big contest glider was the Windsong or maybe the Lovesong. 134", 17:1 aspect ratio, ailerons and flaps.
