I dont know how this one was made but I want one. I am an F27 / Heli pilot and to have both would make me very happy. Check out the video and comment if you know of any plans or more info on this.

I know Eddie Weeks, that is his Turbine powered "RIG". I dont know why you would post this in the EDF forum either.

Sometimes I scratch my head and just wonder…the meaning…then sometimes I just consume my favorite red wine.

Maybe he doesnt know that it's a turbine and not a EDF. Regardless of that fact, that thing looks to be about as reliable as Urethras Ionic Breeze Hydrodynamic warp core propulsion system. Looks like all you need is for one of those prop jobs out on the wings to go out and you get to watch about 10K of your $$$$ crash into the ground.

Sorry if this made it in the wrong area. Thought it looked like an EDF for the main propulsion and you all in here could help me out.

Here is the link to Eddies website ,,,his "rig " has made full transition and uses 4 electiric driven tail rotors ,,,one on each wing tip and two on the tail for yaw and pitch control.
Eddie Weeks "RIG" (http://www.corpcomp.com/weeks1/Rig/Rig.html)
Don't think he has done any more with this since he got it to fly.I don't think he planned on making plans available either as it was pretty tricky to fly and keep running.
You might contact him and see as I never really asked when we were talking .

Thanks Larry! I will check it out. I still have visions of making my EDF F27 hoverable!

Common sense would tell one that it would have the stability of a rocket, unless the engines were at least as far forward as the wings, in that case twins. Have fun getting the needed power, although I'm sure its doable. Rear thrust would need the same type of stabilization systems that NASA uses, since it would basically be a rocket, in that case, not a jet.

I tend to agree that it will be hard with electric ,,,but hey ,,, that doesn't mean that someone with a lot of electric experience and know how can't pull it off. Dr Watson has been working on a scale F35 for yrs now and I don't think that he has got his to work completely yet ...
Good luck and keep us posted if you start on one.

It was a very impressive setup. Unfortunately, the latest video I have seen shows it splatting in a Florida pasture. If someone has newer info, please post it - I would love to see this flying again.

All good things must come to an end ... I think this is why he has not done anymore with it ,,, might be wrong ,,, after you have worked with something like this for so long and so hard ,,,you need a little break to regroup and get sane again  ;) :D
