Hi, I was just curious if anyone was planning on going to the Unmanned Systems North America convention in Orlando, FL Aug 29-31. It would be great to hook up with someone rather then go alone.

I was going to go, but the F3b team trials are in Muncie at the same time. I'll go to the AUVSI convention next year.

I'm from Hong Kong, I wanted to go for this even. Although not much of any aviaition stuff going on in HK. But I used to do lots of model & gliding in while I studied in UK.

It should be a great show. Our company will have a booth at the convention (Total Aircraft Services). Please stop bye and say hello. It is always nice to be able to put a face with the name.

thanks,
Stan

I'll be there with some of our toys. It's a relatively small community and I'm always amazed at the number of modelers I run into there.

I might spring for the $675 and go. Im trying to get more connected with the community as I intend on entering this industry at some point.

Chris,

There will be another modeller there you know as well. Maybe we can find a little time to chat. We won't have a booth but will be hanging out at the CIRPAS booth.

Dan,
Sounds good, we definitely have to sit down with some adult beverages and discuss UAVs, composite manufacturing and DBF stuff.

Steve,
Look forward to catching up with your latest projects. I love the ornithopter work you've been doing, very cool videos on your site.

Hi All,

Castle Creations will be there. We intend to display our line of controllers as well as showcase our custom engineering and manufacturing abilities.

We have numerous companies incorporating our controllers in their projects, and we have also branched out of motor controls into some areas of interest to UAV markets.

Looking forward to the show.

It would be interesting to find out what is being said about our hobby in this Command and Control technical session Wednesday, August 30th:
10:30 – 11:00 a.m. Countering the Emerging Mini UAV Threat to the Homeland

Countering the Emerging Mini UAV Threat to the Homeland
Ensignnolo  that's lovely. Hopefully he discusses the do-nothing approach, since that makes the most sense.

All are welcome to come by the Procerus booth. We will have lots of neat stuff including the new micro ball gimbal and a demo of our digital pan tilt video camera.

Maybe he is also afraid of catapults threat to the Homeland. Cargo can fly as far, as accurate and as heavy payload.

First UAV was flying 1927 or something.

I dont like people who fear, and restricts life.

WOW! What a show! Waaaayyyy too many people and things to see then I could do in a day. I practically ran through the whole floor and it still took me 6 hours. 5 hour drive up, 5 hour drive back, made for a long day. Normally it is a 3.5 to 4 hour trip, but it was raining so hard, it took a while.

Thank you thank you thank you Lee (from Castle) for the awsome gift! It is much appreciated! I'll be contacting you to discuss further my UAV project.

Here is what I had to drive through:

Very cool Greg! Would you be willing to do a CD swap of pictures? I'll send you a CD of all that I have for a CD of yours. PM me if interested. I think the resolution is somewhat diminished when they are posted to the web, thats why. I am somewhat suprised that this thread has not generated more interest. I would have thought more people would be into this. :(

Hey Dave,

Wish I had seen this thread before setting sail for Orly, I would have looked for you. I met up with a friend from Gainesville, and we wore our feet out and did at least 4 laps around the entire event. You'd think I would have taken more photos, but after awhile, I decided instead to talk with people, and set the camera aside. I know it sounds crazy, but in my opinion, the absolutely neatest product at the show had to be the simple Jeep Liberty with r/c controls. That company is not only thinking inside the box, they're running all up in it, and have a product which seems so marketable to so many more industries than the aviation sector has to offer. Second to that was seeing the "real" Scan Eagle and meeting the folks at Insitu, then seeing the Northrop Grumman offerings. That wing is an absolute thing of beauty, and you got the best photo of it. I'd be glad to share a CD with you. PM coming.

I'll toss my pics in to the mix too. I wasn't in a picture-taking mood so there's nothing great, but it was a good time:

Thanks Peter, I enjoyed those. Except for the picture of the guys butt. http://www-gt.diff.net/media/2006_08_31_AUVSI/_mg_7901.htm I'm out on that. You can keep that one. :) Would you like to swap CDs of pics too?

Greg let me know when you get my CD. It should be there by now, but I want to make sure. I included some other aviation related pics too.

PM sent, and really, I think you're missing the point of that photo, though it does fall in to a category of picture I'm guilty of taking on occasion -- the "secondary subject". In this case, it was the other photograher and his significant other, because right before they had really funny expressions.

Here's another example. The caption was, "Charlie thinks I took this picture of him, and judging by how old she appears to be I think I'm going to start agreeing with him. "

I especially like the close ups of the mechanical linkages. It is great to know how the pro's get it done! I wish I would have spent more time on the details rather then just an overview.

Hi all,
sorry to dig this one up again, but its a pitty to have it disapear, which is why i'm posting this too.
I've made an events page on our autopilot dev site (http://www.uavdev.com/events) . Anyone can submit an event and anyone can post comments and upload attachments like photos or programme's or proceedings or anything for everyone else to enjoy. It'll stay around even after the event has passed and it can always be searched for easily (try a search for "auvsi"). In the left column you can also see an upcoming list of the next 5 events that are on.
Don't be shy we have 100G of storage available and 1.5TB of bandwidth to tear through each month. :) :) :)

http://www.uavdev.com/events

Hopefully you'll find it usefull, cheers
matt
