I have used the westport 25T(18gm) and 2s 450 etecs (10x4,7gws prop)with success, but cd rom type motors are beggining to be dificult to find, and I need suggestions on what to use

I'm still producing them. MAE has some in stock
Had some personal issues that slowed me up a bit, but ramping back up.

I do like West-Sprot motors I use the one intended to a 10" on a 9x
4.7 so current draw is 3.5A at full throtle with 170g.
If you rather smaller props I liked the nano Cyclon (16g) I bought in Atlanta Hobby, they spin a 7x3.5 but do draw more amps for the same performance.

Did you measure the current draw of the nano Cyclon with the 7x3.5 prop? What batteries did you use? I noticed that Horizon is going to be selling these too.

That Cyclon looks interesting...Might have to order one of those.
Im glad to see some of the major retailers starting to offer these micro brushless motors. Apparently the F3Ai crowd is starting to garner some attention from the US side. Good things are coming!!!! I personally cant wait till F3Ai gets big attention here....its about time the US had some recognized indoor sports.

Why no I hadn't, this is good news. Only 15g, i wonder if it will turn an 8x4 DD?

Specs says 8x3.8SF, so it should turn a 8x4DD with no problems.

The motor is very similar in design to the successful MICROREX,
but it is purple not blue, and weighs 15 g not 11 g.

I haven't checked the KV, and other specs.

At that price it should be good quality, worth a try ?

jskrebs, I have searched a lot and there is nothing lighter and stronger for that weight and that amps(4.8), actually I have a schoky edge that 3d's for 10-12 min at 160gms... I don´t know what happened to me that day ... I put 3s on a 25T motor and damaged it
I´m wanting to kickstart indoor in my location, so I miss your motors

From here (http://www.cyclonbrushless.com/images/data%20CY.pdf):

Nano Cyclon CPLR (Christophe Paysant Le Roux) Edition

7amp max
2 cell Lipo
0.350 Ohm
0.5 Io
1900 Kv
50W

Looks like its a French motor. Says it can hover up to 150g.

jskrebs,
what kind of wire can I use to rewind my motor? I would like to keep it as it was
as I can read from the website it says 25G is there any equivalence?

Thanks!

25T's use 26G wire. I think radio shack has green 26 gauge wire.

Did you hurt the ESC

Daniel Z
Jun 28, 2006, 11:08 PM
nope, but the wire seems to lose its isolation and the motor gets hot, never did it before
26g is in milimeters?....

thanks

Hot is bad

G is gauge, a holdover from imperial times. Not sure of the mm eq.

I got a look at the Cyclon today - Racer....Tony has them in stock now.

Great looking little motor. I gotta pick one up...

I´m not relative or asociated with wesport, but I can´t figure out the advantage of a 11-12gm motor that needs a heavier lipo (to sustain 7amp) over a slightly heavier motor (18gms) with a lighter lipo , and with 9 to 10 oz of thrust (270gms)... am I missing something?

matchlessaero

Depends if you need to sustain 7 amps, and if you will be propping it to that load....

Gee, the Mighty Midget motors sound better all the time.

8 grams

7.0V
-----
5*3, 107gms at 2.3A
6*3, 144gms at 3A
7*3.5, 156gms at 3.61A

Jerry, which motor will spin the 7x3.5? I've not yet tried one, but now I'm thinking I should..?

Daniel Z
Jun 29, 2006, 10:10 PM
that´s impressive performace, but, how much does a plane have to weight to perform whith it? I can asume it is easier to weight less with a configuration that light; and what about lipos? 200mAh?... sounds amazing

Jerry Combs

Matchless,

The 13/6/9T specs that I posted are direct from Uttam, IIRC that is the motor that you have. Get some of the 220 Atomic Workshop batteries from Bob, they will handle the amperage and are only 12.5 grams + connector for a 2s pack. Pretty soon you will be under 100 grams all up. :D

Jerry

PS: I have one of the Atomic packs on my micro Ballerina, much better than my old E-Tec 250's or my 160's.

Great! Thanks Jerry. Yeah, those cells are good. I think I have a pack built from them that does well..

Daniel,

I should let Matchless answer this but here goes. I think you will need to build down to 100 to 115 grams all up to use the motor effectively. Matchless's Sentiniel is about 105 grams and is very impressive with this motor. F3P does not take as much power as the typical 3D model as most manuvers use more kinetic energy rather than brute power.

Jerry

Jerry's answer is pretty much right on. I'd like to get my Sentinel down to 100 grams even and see how it goes. I believe my next one will come out at about 100 grams and should perform just a little better than my current 105 gram one does. At 105 grams, I have just the right amount of vertical to do every maneuver in the program.

I just spotted the Micro Aîto on the Donuts-models (http://www.donuts-models.com/pages/moteur_donutspag.html) homepage. They show a Micro Aîto claimed to weigh 65g with a 13/6/9 motor. The "1/6/9" must be a typo since it's beside the 13/6/9 listing and the start of the video lists it as a 13/6/9.
The listed specs are:
Span: 500mm
Weight: 65g
Cells: 2s 300mAh

Outstanding.

Less than half the weight of an Aito.

Exotic gear only. $$$

This allows much greater use of the space within a small hall.

I hope Benoit Dierickx gives exhibition flights.

This takes ultra micro 3D to another level.

I love my microrex 3200 motor. It weights only 12g and it pulls about 200g with 2 lipos. I use it on my 62cm depron plane and it has good power. But the flying times arent that good with etec 2*300.
