Well, my first post and first question.

Are there sites that have pre-built wing systems available for sale?

Or: Are there sites that have wing plans available?

Looking for a few designs in particular, by sight, not by specifics.

TIA

Might check rcmagazine.com and go to thier plans page. May find the plans for the whole airplane at the price of wing only plans elsewhere. They are very reasonable with thier pricing.

Welcome to R/C Groups! What kind of design are you looking for? Sport plane, glider? You might do a search for Airfoils also.

Well Mr. Sims, I'm probably not going to start out with a standard kit, but for sure it will be a type of a powered glider build. I'll update with drawings I have in work currently when finished.

I'm now and have been for quite awhile, interested in research and developmental aircraft. So in that spirit I plan to build one on the lines of a UAV currently in production. Not really a scaled model, but more as a one off research design.

Wing length, tip to tip would be anywhere from 6 to 8 meters and the tube and control surfaces to accomodate.

I've just recently, (yesterday) bought items to cut and shape foam. A hot wire kit and some neat accessories which will allow for growth as my shapes increase in size and complexity.

I'll keep this site posted as to my decisions of craft and size as well as the accumulation of parts, supplies and production in progress. By the way, over the last 8 years, I worked up friendships with a few towing and recovery contractors who have been saving and passing on to me air bags of a useful nature. I always thought that material would come in handy. May be soon.

I don't know if this is something generally undertaken, but do feel it will be something different and unique that I want to play with as I slide into retirement. Which if the banks hold water will happen around Jan 2003.

I'll keep searching for wings and plans, but think that my designing and producing the jigs and cut styles will be the way to go. Thank goodness for composit technology.

Thanks. Jeffrey

Long live the retiree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Jeffrey,
Please call me Don! I'm moving this to modelling science, we have a lot of highly talented people that hang around there more than here. I retired once, got bored and am attending college again. Good luck finding the information that you need.
