I asked this questiosn some months ago and I couldnt get how to do it even though I tried the instructions that people gave me. Is there like a tutorial online or an very easy way to explain? It drives me nuts, cuz I just cant get it.
Any input would be greatly appreciated

If you have G3 run the flight training video of it, Pete Notis does a good job of explaining it. So does the Alan Szabo 3d dvd.

Give left rudder, about 50 percent of throw.
Then you stir the cyclic in a circle from upper right to lower right to lower left to upper left and on around again.
As the helicopter transitions from upright to vertical you want 0 collective, as it transitions to inverted you want to go negative.
If you do it right you are making medium throw circles with your right stick and the left stick is steady in rudder and moving from about +3 or 4 degrees positive to 3 or 4 degrees negative.
Its all timing and practice. To learn on the sim I cranked the rudder trim full left and concentrated on my transitions with the collective while flipping as slow as I could with the cyclic.
You need to be able to piro slowly in the same place upright and inverted and move around in a controlled manner upright and inverted while maintaining a steady piro rate. Again, I started by flying circuits with the rudder trim cranked hard over and you will start to feel that circular motion and how it keeps the heli upright in a piro, then you offset it so instead of keeping it upright, you make it flip.

"then you offset it so instead of keeping it upright, you make it flip."
I didnt quite understand that, but im clear on all other things...thanks for the info ill go try that when I get home from work. I should bring my sim to work...haha...
thanks again

On the RunRyder forums, there is an animation of what you do with the sticks next to what the helicopter is doing during a pyro flip. For some reason the link is no longer in my bookmarks, otherwise I would give it to you.

piro flipping is very challanging, don't expect to be able to do it untill you are proficient at in place flips and rolls. It is all about timing, if you practice a bunch it will come, but if you go even a few weeks without flying it will show in your piro flips. I was getting pretty comfortable with them this spring and had to have wrist surgery, it has been harder than I thought to get back to where I was, and the piro flips were the biggest indicator of that.

I prefer to piro flip opposite of barracudahockey's explanation. Just easier for me. Starting in an upright hover, then give right rudder stick, as the tail comes by towards me pull cyclic back and to left. Then start the circular cyclic movements counterclockwise. And keep the pitch going negative and positive. My circular cyclic usually looks squashed. By the time I get to upper right I need to go lower left so I go diagonally across. I need more practice.

Theres a guy named Elvis down this way that can fly like mad, he does it the same way Rob, there's no right or wrong way (well crashing is wrong) I've tried it the other way but I feel I have better control of the rudder going towards the outside of the transmitter.

what i normally teach people to do is.
left stick, turn some left rudder, not too fast, and at the same time, push some forward elevator and then move in a stirring motion to right aileron. do not follow the corners of the radio, as the motion is a circle, not a square.
then hold the heli inverted. your basically doing 1/4 piro flip. eventually you will build onthis.
definitely trial error.

A cyclic ring is a big help.

I set the rudder dual rate to about halfspeed, then just hold the rudder stick all the way over to the stop.

I do the same. It's actually my method for setting my piro rate for a heli. Tone the rudder down untill I can comfortably piro flip the thing with the rudder kicked in full on the tx. I have never liked these helis that are setup with 100% throw on the rudder as it simply piro's MUCH too fast for my liking for anything, even normal aerobatics. Just doesn't feel natural and you need ooodles of expo to make the rudder feel normal around the middle. But I suppose it's just personal preferance (sp?).

where can we get a D or a circular ring?

You can get cyclic rings from Ricks http://www.ronlund.com he has them for most popular transmitters.

I think it is the link you mentioned. I just found it via Google, and I hope that is useful for people who want to do the piroflip. (Oh, I don't know when can I get into this step... :p)

Did anybody that followed the link in the above post discover the gem of a link near the bottom? It's a pretty good written explaination of the manuver.... or at least it looks good to this novice.

I will try this one when I get home. Will be my first real manoeuvre other than flips and rolls. Looks quite difficult to me....
