Lots of new goodies now on the site in the LH menu, in the manu page ticker, and on the RDRC Events page about this event. There's also a RDRC Mall Show we're having a couple of weeks prior, to get the public excited about the gig. Static displays, flight demos, and flight simulator access for people. Gonna be fun! You can see it all at www.rd-rc.org .

I've added several items to the site at rd-rc.org to help those who are coming to the event, and to help those planning & managing the event.
Firstly, there's a new pre-registration form, and it's free. This is only to help get a headcount for management. Please take a moment and fill this out for us.
Next, there is a growing list of hotels, sponsors, and event info. All of this is on the main page when you enter the site, immediately below the ticker. In the LH menu, you'll find quick links to download & view the fliers, and other info.
I know some people are already planning to show up earlier in the week and begin the fun, so don't hesitate to do so if you wish. You can also add comments and questions to the "comments" section of the pre-registration form, and we'll do our best to answer them and help out where we can!
Thanks, and we'll see y'all the week of Sept 23-24!

People who were too far away to make this event have been asking about buying raffle tickets to support the upcoming RDRC Fly-In Fundraiser. I just finished building and testing the aux. shopping cart files on my business server for this. All is well...a person can find the link to buy raffle tickets for our upcoming event online in the following locations at www.rd-rc.org :
- In the [Club Stuff] section of the LH menu, labeled as "- Buy Tickets"
- On the main page (large window that first opens at www.rd-rc.org) in the link: Sept. 23-24 -> Buy Tickets
- On the event info page at: http://www.scootworks.com/rdrc/events/rcevents.html
This page is accessed from the main window or from the "- RDRC Events" in the LH menu.
One can buy these via PayPal, Visa, MC, AmEx, or Discover. Shopping is via 128-bit secure encription. We are providing free mailing of the tickets to purchasers.

Heheheheh...I read somewhere: It's the art of throwing your plane at the ground, and missing, hehehehehehehe... Hanging on the prop, doing stuff low and slow in high alpha. Actually, this is an "all planes" event, and primarily a fund raiser (Fly-For-Tots) that we do each year. :-)

There's only a few days left to get in on the raffle, and the huge list of prizes is growing and growing. You can see the list and buy tickets online at:
http://www.scootworks.com/cart/shop/shoprdrc.htm
You don't have to worry about waiting for the tickets to arrive to you via mail before the fund raising event on Sept 23-24, as we log the ticket numbers and will contact everyone who wins. Raffle winners will also be posted online immediately after the drawings. The list of goodies is unreal, pop over to the link above and have a look. It's cheap to get in on it, and ALL proceeds (every penny!) go directly to the kids at 'Smiles for Little Faces'. We raised over $5000 last year, and should be able to rock and roll this year, considering the sponsorship and support from the R/C Industry we'bve had this year. Please help us help the kids with your participation in this event.

Fly-For_Tots wrap-up...
This past Wednesday night, October 25, we invited 'Smiles for Little Faces' (a Make-a-Wish group) to our club meeting. A check for $10,000 (!!) was presented to them, and was the proceeds from our September 2-day Fly-For-Tots Fly-in and Huckfest event. It was a goal we set, and didn't think we had a chance in making...but thanks to all the support from everyone, it was achieved!
You can see the event unfold in the "- Sponsor ThankYou!" link in the [Event Stuff] section of the LH menu on our website at www.rd-rc.org. If you haven't done it yet, be sure to check out the slideshow in that same section called "- Fly-For-Tots Pics", and scroll down to the [Club Stuff] section of the menu and look at the October newsletter.
134 registered pilots, HUNDREDS of aircraft, folks from all over the east coast and beyond, HUGE industry support, etc. T'was the largest event in North Carolina, and already has folks slated to demo at the '07 Event!
Thanks again to everyone, and this forum, for helping us make it happen!

OK all you RDRC members and fly-in attendees. Here is the video of the Fly-for-Tots fly-in from the weekend of September 23rd. This is a link to a file on yousendit.com. You may need to register in order to download.

Tomorrow I will post a larger version with high quality sound on my website. Look for it at:
http://higherplaneproductions.com
Be sure to sign up for my eList to be automatically notified of new video releases.
Please keep in mind this is not a documentary of the entire event. It is a brief overview of some of the highlights of two great days of fun and flying at RDRC. I tried to include as much as I could, but editing eight hours down to eight minutes means a lot got left on the cutting room floor. I apologize in advance if you have been anticipating something in particular and it's not there.
Thanks Larry for asking me to do this. See you at the next event and for sure back at RDRC in 2007!
