Hi all,
Which electric helicopter is best from a point of view of cost, build
quality, availablity of spares and reliabilty. I'm in the UK.
I know this question may have been answered before but your views are
appreciated.

If you are new, the Lama 2 RC Helicopter is very good for you. You can
check this flyig video to see how it fly:

its a bit of an open ended question no one helicopter is the best overall
all depends on loads of factors including
indoor outdoor
big small
beginner advanced
price
but for what its worth a T-Rex gets my vote but its all I have flown apart
from a Honey bee 2 and it knocks spots of that but then its 3 times the
price

You ask for the best Heli then go for the cheapest? don't forget to buy tail
motors as you will need them

How often do tail motors go? Would I be better with belt or gear driven
tail then?

My honey bee went through 5 before I swapped to a T-rex you only have to
catch something like a piece of grass carpet ETC and they seem to burn out
,the T-rex is so much easier to hover than smaller fixed pitched

I would have to agree. I love my Trex SE, but it cost 5x what my
Blade CP cost. Of course it flies 20x better so it was a good
investment. :)

Hello again,
Thanks for your advice Ian, got a refurbished Sabre from HobbyStores as per
your recommendation. I'm a bit rusty having not floen for a while, however
I feel that I would be able to "fine tune" the heli a bit better with my
Optic 6 radio (using and aero setup of course). I've tried switching
crystals from Sabre tx into my Optic but its a no go. Anybody know any
reason for this? I suspect its that the crystals are not compatible with
Hitec setup? Are there any other crystals that may work with the Hitec
Optic and the Sabre reciever? - or am I just going to have to stick with the
Sabre tranny.
Cheers
Keith.

I tried to do the same with a Esky honey bee and the helicopter would not
respond to my Futaba TX and someone told me some of the radios are PCM which
every maker uses a different coding so I gave up in the end and sold it

The advantage of which is less interference even with people on very close
frequencies. at my club i'm on channel 63 and someone on 65 manages to
interfere.
