Hi all,

Im still fairly new to the r/c boat scene.

I want to build a micro boat, prefferably a cat (I have some plans). I am builing micro here, and I mean micro- 11" total length, 5 1/2" total width. I plan on powering the small boat via slotcar motors.

Now my biggest concern is props. Which ones would be suit my application.

Second is what flex cable or solid rod size/pair/match up should I use.

Thirdly where can I buy this stuff at, prefferably here in the USA or consider Canada. I dont really want to pay all the shipping etc from UK :(

The hardware I can make myself as I am a machinist.

One one last not what is the balance point for a cat? I dont think its the 70/30 rule generally used for mons....

As far as I am aware, the point of balance is about the same for a cat as for a mono, although you should move it forwards if the boat has a tendency to flip over.

Most people use the Graupner range of props (which have either a 2mm or 4mm thread) or use a 1/8 inch dog drive Octura prop (usually cut down). The 26mm diameter 2mm thread Graupner prop should be a good choice for such a small boat.

Have a look at http://www.microhydros.com for more information and details of equipment suppliers in your area.
